Greetings to all!
Continuing with the English course promoted in this great community, I present my fourth assignment. I am always ready to acquire new knowledge and I do not want to miss the opportunity to improve my skills in this very important language.
Explain and give examples each for the types of Prepositions mentioned above.
1.- Time prepositions
They show the moment when an action happens, happened or will happen; Some of the most used are: at, in, on, about, after, around, before, during, since, until, among others.
Below are some examples of sentences in which they use these types of prepositions:
- After 3 years he has returned.
- The doctor will be here around 5.
- She was my room for 5 years.
- We sang during all the trip.
2.- Prepositions of place
These are the prepositions that indicate the location of something or someone, as well as the origin or where they come from. In this type of prepositions on, in, and at, which are also used as prepositions of time, they provide more precise information about the place. Other examples of this type of prepositions are: above, across, around, inside, under, over, near, among others.
Below are some examples of sentences in which they use these types of prepositions:
- My brother is at home.
- I read the article in the newspaper.
- She is shopping inside that store.
- My car is outside.
3.- Prepositions of movement
They manifest the movement, displacement or activity of an object or a person; some of the most used are: across, around, from, into, over, to, under, among others.
Below are some examples of sentences in which they use these types of prepositions:
- Every Monday he walks along the park.
- The birds are flying around the nest.
- They come from far away.
- That airplane flies over the town.
Search, explore, and explain how to recognize a preposition with an example?
Prepositions are one of the topics in the grammar of the English language that presents the greatest difficulty to learn, since translating them directly into Spanish is almost impossible; All this because their translation will depend on the situation or context in which they are being used, so to learn how to use them correctly is by knowing their different uses.
Prepositions are words that are generally used before a noun or pronoun, to indicate their relationship with other words in the same sentence. These can describe, for example, the position of something, the moment in which something will happen and the way in which an action is performed.
For example, in the sentence: there are nice roses in the garden, we can easily recognize the preposition, since we place it before the noun, and it indicates the place where the roses are.
