Continuing with the English course promoted in this great community, I present my third task, which this time is assigned by the teacher @ftz, and is related to pronunciation.
Define the pronunciation in your own words.
It can be said that pronunciation is the way to correctly speak a word or a specific language.
It is the concrete way in which a word, or an entire language, is phonetically produced by a speaker.
What is the importance of pronunciation?
The pronunciation is the basis of the transmission of the border information, and therefore, it is the element that conditions the clarity of the message. The pronunciation transmits the oral message, making it easier or more difficult for the listener to recognize the words, therefore, the communicative importance of pronunciation lies in that it provides clarity to the oral text of which it is part.
Pronunciation is important in learning English, since it helps us avoid communicative problems. Words must be spoken and pronounced correctly as a mispronounced vowel or consonant can lead to confusion. In addition, it gives us confidence to be able to converse and helps us understand the natives better.
Good pronunciation is an important part of learning in any language; therefore it is necessary to consider some ways to practice more effectively and improve skills more quickly. The following tips must be taken into account, to improve and get closer to the goal of obtaining a perfect pronunciation in English.
Separate the words into syllables.
Do not be afraid to speak, because the only way to improve pronunciation is by speaking.
Watching videos, in which the language is spoken, will help to learn that English is pronounced differently depending on where it is spoken.
Listen, because speaking is not the only key to pronounce perfectly, you must also be able to listen to native speakers of English, which will give instant access to how to pronounce correctly.
Pay attention to intonation and accents
Read aloud while recording yourself.
Speak slowly, because speaking too fast strengthens bad habits and makes the speaker sound nervous and indecisive. Speaking slowly will give you time to breathe and think about what you want to say next.
Do some research on the two mentioned websites to improve pronunciation and mention which one has been helpful to you and why.
I particularly prefer to use the Oxford Student Dictionary, as its website offers various dictionaries according to the subject, containing words related to the subject, and that help to expand the vocabulary.
It also allows you to search the dictionary, hear the pronunciation of all English words, and hear thousands of spoken examples in keyword entries.
In this dictionary I learned many words, as well as the correct and incorrect way to pronounce them, that way I can improve my communication skills; This is why I find the Oxford Student Dictionary to be much easier to use.
Conclusion.
Thanks to this lesson I have understood the basic pronunciation skills; also some techniques that I must take into account to improve the pronunciation of the English language.
