Thoughts about the newest Humble Drop and Historical Listing (up to September 2021)

September 2021 Humble Choice

This month's Humble Choice drop has been a really good one for me! There are quite a few games that sound intriguing, and a few that I ALMOST bought for myself during recent sales... however, experience has taught me to just hold off buying games as many them end up appearing on the Humble Choice drops. So, if I don't HAVE to get a game right away and START playing immediately... I should just wait and have it appear in a bundle for a miniscule fraction of an upfront purchase price!

Leading this month's drop is an real-life sports game simulator in PGA TOUR 2K21... ordinarily these sports games just have absolutely NO appeal to me (except for Football Manager...), however, there is something quite interestingly soothing and appealing about a golfing simulator! This will be cool fun to play as a family if it supports hot-seat multiplayer!

Neon Abyss describes itself as a roguelite action platformer... it looks pretty, but I think I will stick with Dead Cells on the Switch. I'm not a fan of platformers anyway! It probably will appeal to some gamers, but I'm not one of them!

Not for Broadcast is a interesting indie game where you play as a TV broadcast censor for the nightly news. This is really an cool genre that started with Papers Please, and usually involves a balancing of job requirements (censorship) and rebellion against the government.... often resulting in some pretty hairy moral and ethical choices as you need to also protect loved ones from retribution. This game has been on my wishlist since I heard of it... so I'm pretty chuffed that it is in the Bundle! I didn't realise it was still in Early Access though... it has been over two years!

Roki is a adventure game set in a northern snowland wilderness... part puzzler, part adventure/point and click, it has a really beautiful presentation style. I have a feeling that this is going to be a great one for the kids when they are a little bit older... or myself (right now...)! From the reviews, it feels like it is going to be one of those story heavy games... right up my alley!

Narita Boy... again, a side scroller/platformer with retro style graphics. Not for me... but I'm sure that it would be nice for a different type of gamer taste!

West of Dead is a rogue-like (tick) set in a supernatural Western setting?!?!?... colour me interested! It is also melded with a twin-stick shooter mechanic, which is much less fun for me... I guess I need to link up my Steam Controller (or the Steam Deck when it is released)! I'm so intrigued by the setting and visuals that I will overlook my dislike of twin stickers!

Atomicrops... retro graphics and roguelike/farming simulator, growing crops in an apocalypse setting. Ummmmm it is weird enough to have me saying... YES! It looks like a game that would be a perfect match for the Steam Deck!

Heaven's Vault is a game that I've also had on my wishlist for ages! A BAFTA nominated puzzle/adventure game that has a female protagonist and an lovely art style that is story rich? I'm in! These were the guys that did 80 days, so I'm pretty sure that I'm going to like this!

Swag and Sorcery... "Grind for Resources"... NO NO NO! Streamlined RPG-lite.... NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO!

Fort Triumph is another game that is on my wishlist... I a HUGE fan of turn-based tactics, and despite the fact that every turn-based game references XCOM, Fort Triumph could be an interesting move for the genre into a fantasy setting. It's a high bar to clear... but I've been wanting to try it out, so this is going to be a keeper.

Orwell is a game that I previously reviewed and enjoyed... I had noticed that "Ignorance is Strength", the second in the series had been released... but given my backlog, I held off on purchasing it. Luckily, I get it here on Humble Choice!

Framed Collection. Sadly, I already own these games on Steam AND Android... it is a really cool game with an interesting comic book style presentation, where you puzzle out a path through the story by rearranging the comic book panes. Definite recommendation!

Humble Bundle is an awesome subscription service, dropping up to 10 games each month of around 300 euros in price for the low low price of 12 USD. In addition you get access to the Humble Trove of downloadable games that accessible as long as you have a subscription and up to 20% discounts on the games being sold on the main store (in addition to any other discounts).

So, a super great deal... however, I have found that it is incredibly annoying to not have a historical listing of ALL the past Monthly drops in a place that is easy to find and accessible. I have to trawl through my old monthly purchases to look individually to see what has already dropped! There doesn't even seem to be a compilation of this information anywhere on the internet (not that I could find at least...).... so, I'm going to be releasing an updated historical list of Monthly Bundles each month (surprise...) when the Choice bundle drops.

Mostly, this is more for my own sanity... and I really hope that it is of some use to other people as well. When a sale goes up, I always am wondering if I already own the game (I don't tend to claim the purchases and keys immediately...) and if I'm going to be double buying the Steam key... or if the game goes on sale on Switch or a different platform, I don't want to be buying a second copy again!... or maybe someone will see this and see what a great deal
Humble Bundle really is! Plus, if you like e-books (comics and books) or audiobooks, there are often Pay-What-You-Want deals going on all the time!

So, without further ADO!... the historical listings, in reverse chronological order (newest first..) of the Humble Choice games... from when I first joined! This is being done manually... it is a pain in the arse, but Humble doesn't make it easy! Still, when it is done, each new month will be easier to do! Just got to remember to make a template...

I would not play any of those games which are on the list.

Oh, that is a pity! I had a quick play of a couple last night and they are pretty decent at first blush!

Which one would you say is your favorite, I am quite a picky gamer though so that might be why.

At the moment, Not for Broadcast is pretty cool. But it is still in Early Access so I don't want to play too much of it. Fort Triumph is okay, not quite what I was hoping for but fun.

I usually stay away from early access games. Just had too many bad experiences with them.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy it straight off... but in the Bundle, no problem!
