Contest: What Was Your Aim in Life?

Good day fellow Steemians, I trust you're having a great time going about your various activities in this amazing platform. It feels real good to be participant in this contest as I will be sharing with you what has and will always be my aim in life.

Having an aim in life is as important as having life itself because your aim directs and leads your whole life. It more or less gives you a purpose, something to fight for or work towards. Waking every day to know you are walking towards a particular goal or aim is a big motivation and it certainly makes life worth living.
Having said that, my aim in life has always been to be impactful, to be able to pass a form of knowledge to someone oblivious or ignorant of it. This aim has guided and shaped most of my decisions in life. One of those decisions is that of becoming a teacher.

A Teacher could be seen as a professional who teaches learners based on a form of curriculum guidelines within their specialist area of focus. A teacher is a friend who brings light and more light to ideas you never knew, a guide who is able to pass on knowledge. A teacher is like a model of virtue, having positive influence on the lives of many.
The duties cannot be overemphasized just like the knowledge the teacher passes. The duties of a teacher includes, assigning and grading homework, grading tests, documenting the progress of every learner and keeping up with parent communication. Asides the official duties of a teacher, a teacher performs a wide range of activities in order to aid and promote the teaching and learning process.
As a teacher who looks forward to teaching to the understand of the pupils, they are some qualities which should always be part of the teachers. A teacher should warm, caring, enthusiastic, accessible, to mention but a few. This qualities gives the teacher a firsthand advantage with the learners. It makes the learners free and gives them some sense of belonging even when they're away from home. A good teacher is a blessing to many lives.
Being someone who loves science especially the natural sciences, I've decided to focus my teaching quest of that area.

As a child growing, my mother has always been my model. Being a teacher, she also inspired my decision to take on that. Watching her teach and put smiles on many faces through her words made me want to do same. To achieve this aim, I started at a very early age to set my goals straight and below are some steps I've taken and those I hope to take in order to achieve this aim.

• Imbibing good qualities; as I earlier stated above, a good teacher should have some qualities which distinguishes them from just anyone. I get to portray most of the qualities unconsciously and to know where I'm laging behind, I evaluate myself on a daily basis to see where and what I'm lacking in character and I try to fix it intentionally. I try to have a listening ear, try to make myself accessible to people around me and also give them a sense of belonging and comfort.

• Enrolling in a bachelor's degree program: in order to become a professional and gain some level of qualification, I enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program which is another step up my ladder. This gives me a upper hand in the way as most schools and education employers require at least a bachelor’s degree in addition to a state certification to teach in their schools. Though I don't intend to stop at a bachelor's degree, I believe it's a step forward.

• Participating in student teaching:as the popular say goes, "practice makes perfect". Being a teacher is one thing and being a good teacher is another. To be a good teacher, experience is needed and to get this experience I get myself involved in anything that gives me the opportunity to stand before people to speak on anything in general. I also teach my mates and in the process, practicing how to manage a classroom. Doing this has helped me overcome stage fright and the likes. It has given me the courage and confidence I will be needing in my journey.

• Take a teacher certification test: I very well understand that to become I'll need to take the teacher certification exam which relates to both my course of study and the state in which I want to become certified. Though I've not reached the point to cross this bridge, I keep preparing myself and walking towards it as I hope to become a good teacher who impacts lives positively and make great learners.

I've grown to understand that challenges and obstacles are just part of life, part of living. They are always there, they may appear in any form but there's sure gonna be challenges and obstacles. They make us stronger and tend to test our level of determination. So when posed with one, I try to look at the bright side of it all.

I've encountered some minor challenges and but the most challenging that had me thinking otherwise on my decision was that in terms of finance, I knew what I wanted but the 'how' part of it wasn't figured out but knowing my problem at least made it better. Since I knew my challenge I worked towards solving it and so far I must say I'm doing better on the area of finance and I hope to do more. I haven't achieved my aim, therefore, I know they'll be more challenges on the way and I an making myself ready for all.
