The number $250 was what Associa wanted.
There was misunderstanding on a board member's part as to whether that number had ever been brought up~it had been, by Associa.
Relevant because it shows what this PMC the board wishes to go with wants.
The HOA would have to get a vote from the neighborhood
to increase the rates more than 10% of what they are and felt push back.
The HOA discussed needing to raise rates and threw other numbers out there as possibilities.
In the end they are going with the 10% increase they are allowed in their CC&R's or Covenant's, Conditions and Restrictions as that does not require a vote.
They stated as per Nathan's notes at the last meeting held Monday night
"next year fees will be $99, before they hire the outside corp."
I will link his notes for those who may not have seen them yet.
I find it unfair they did not let either of you volunteer nor follow through to you Angie.
Do you know who the two board members were that you spoke to?
I also was told the board would follow up with the research I told the group on the conflict of interest and poor ethics of the owner of Associa, but never heard anything back.
I also am perplexed about the tech, website position never being brought up as Nathan and I sat watching, they all stated there were no volunteers so they just re-nominated Cindy as president and kept their posts.
When asked for Treasurer and Secretary, Chris kept saying Associa.
When Nathan asked right out about their website and gave ideas from other homeowners on how more money might be saved, Dennis, who runs that post told Nathan that he was a software engineer.
I remember the scene very well because Nate also is in technology and when he tried to suggest ideas, they were not well received.
All that I am seeing here is making me ask even more questions and am very leery of what is going on as they also stated in their meeting that they were short on annual budget and would be going into the reserve funds to pay for the commons area.
They do seem willing to cut expenses on newsletter, but were talking about getting a pole to match the lights at entrance for the slow down signs they wish to get.
Stellar info and ideas of working together as a neighborhood as Ted Archer states and I believe in trusting each home owner to take care of their own property the way they see fit as after all, they are the ones paying for their homes, yards and upkeep even without being told to do so.
I believe there are a lot of lovely people and homes in our neighborhood.
I also agree with Rachael Raymer on other neighborhoods without HOA's.
Have driven around some recently.
Homes and yards overall look nice and people appear happy.
I did not know that. I had never been to any of their meetings until these last three.
Only went because I didn't want outside interference coming in that could cause some people a great deal of strife as I know many local news stations have reported horror stories about pmc's and especially this particular one the board is drawn to.
During the first in July, one of the things the board was warning about was having to call the city for issues and that the city didn't always get back to them.
They said if the HOA went back to the city we would loose our signage and another board member said it took a long time for the city to get back to him so he said to us "good luck!"
If the board already cannot get the city to do things and we are already doing our own entrances and trees that get out of hand on city property, I was wondering why that warning mattered.
It feels like many in the neighborhood have and are willing to help.
As we are already used to doing many of these things and city takes care of streets and trash, I am starting to see what others mean when they say things could operate fine without an HOA.
Wondering how others feel as I believe from their CC&R's it will take possibly around 75% vote to dissolve.
I wonder if former board members know, they likely do.
It seems the board didn't feel it had enough people that wanted more enforcement or amenities otherwise they would have gone for the vote they talked about as they were saying they needed more money to do more things.
I'm not sure what the numbers are in the neighborhood who want to dissolve. Do any of you know?
Would love to work with you Lu!
Thank you So Much!
I've just been going on as I see needed.
I was not aware we could touch the entrances as I didn't want to step on people's toes.
When I heard Cindy talking about how she had gone out to take out a vine from one of the bushes and it needed to be done again,
that's when I understood they must not budget or hire someone for weeding.
I decided to go out and saw the bushes behind the sign were in need of trimming and lots of weeding needed to be done as people at the meeting expressed they wanted it to look neat.
I just figured I would do what I do in my own gardens and take out the dead stems from the perennials also as I felt that would make it neater.
I also picked up the debris and broke sticks up.
I didn't want debris in the way of vehicles so I put it all in a contractor's trash bag, but would like to find out from the board or whoever is in charge if we can just leave clippings, sticks and weeds in neat pile somewhere for city to pick up as I am still hauling some of the debris around ; )
I am always open to suggestions as to what else people want done.
I worked on the tree from Wimbley Way that the board did not mention, but I had seen others pass by it and have trouble.
I had wondered for years as to why it wasn't being done, but once again didn't want to step on people's toes.
I attempted to ask permission from the homes near it, but didn't get a response, so dug in.
It was indeed a bug haven and those sapplings were causing endangerment to pedestrians as they already started breaking up the cement.
If the city isn't able to do these trees in the neighborhood that are causing issues, I will try to get the sapplings out unless that upsets people.
I am not sure how the city deals with trees in their jurisdiction in neighborhoods like this as once they are out of control, it becomes a routine maintenance issue. I wish I would have known the board needed help with them as I would have taken them out Before they became such a problem to the community.
Hi Barbara, haven't had a chance with business and fam obligations to let you know I did attempt to bring up questions of people needing help in the neighborhood.
I couldn't ask for other kids around as there were just a handful of people there outside of the board members.
I did ask if there was a way to help those who needed as many of us have been working together for years with those around us, but realized once I recently joined the fb page there are many needing help.
Cindy said she had told people to let the board know if they needed help with tasks, chores and things they have received notices on.
She said no one took her up on it and she said if I wanted to volunteer to take that on, I could.
I of course am not interested in being a board member and already do tasks "unofficially" so will continue to trust all here on this fb page.
There is a post on here where someone mentioned a homeowner who may have children able to hire as you were wishing.
I will find that post again and link it.
Once again, if you cannot find anyone, I do regular checks at the entrance and would be happy to trim, weed process sticks or do whatever you need in the interim.
Please don't hesitate to let me know as I am used to doing some of these tasks as we have a LOT of trees!
Definitely less rather than backup for reinforcements which was made clear the board wanted the property management co to do those reinforcements many are not in favor of. YIKES after looking at the history of Associa!
