Hosers Rejoice - Hockey is back!

It has been a while since I used #partiko to post as I have been having fun with @actifit, Marlians.com, palnet.io and even tasteem.io for my posts. I have heard that the partiko developers are not even trying anymore. Any truth to that? Should I be cashing in my trove of partiko points into upvotes or steem?

Anyhow, back to the point. It has been a long long summer if you are a Montreal Canadiens (aka Habs) fan. It was a disappointing season of injuries and underperformance for a team with the most championships in sports. Fans come to expect this team to raise the cup every 10 years or so, yet it has been since 1993.

The season ended up well enough with an encouraging playoff push, return of the best goalie in the league (Carey Price) and some great performances from players who were thought to be overachieving.

The summer was very uneventful in the form of a lack of any real trades or transactions leading the analysts to concur on another mediocre season. Personally, I am glad the team has built a culture around the older but perfectly capable leaders, character players, and a crop of very exciting unknown (to the professional ranks) players. Even building a winning culture with the AHL (farm team) Laval Rocket and new coach Joel Bouchard.

I am just happy to be in my man cave watching Lea Bots return to the ice. It is the first preseason game against a New Jersey Devils half squad. Hoping to see some sparks from those looking to make the team and reason for unexpected excitement.

Do I have any other hockey fans in my network? Any habs fans or do you follow another team? There is sportstalksocial tokens to be made and a long fun season to enjoy. Let me know your are out there!

Go Habs Go!

When i lived in Chicago I used to love going to Blackhawk games because the tickets while still expensive, were far more affordable than say basketball - which was played in the same arena. In Raleigh, North Carolina, Hurricane tickets could be acquired for $20 or so in the top levels and then since attendance was so poor we would just move closer... security didn't seem to mind / notice.

However, just like baseball, i really don't like watching this sport on TV - it just can't hold my interest mostly because I can't tell where the puck is half the time.

Remember when they briefly introduced those light-up pucks? That had a really short run.... did they ever re-introduce it after working out the bugs?

Haha yes! I think it was the birthright of every Canadian to complain about that neon puck. That did not last very long and is reviled like the New Coke era.

I think you really develop an appreciation for it when you play the game yourself, and are raised following a team. Otherwise, it is a great game to watch live.

I guess it is in my blood. A little Skatey-Punchy is good for you!

it's hard to dislike a sport where fighting is built-in. Are there any other sports where you can get into a punch up, and as long as you don't cheat, all you gotta do is sit in the penalty box for 5 minutes or whatever.

MMA..

I lived in Chicagoland for a bit.. I used to go watch the Chicago Wolves.. tickets were like $7

i don't even know who the Wolves are! That must have been not in the time i lived there. To be fair I only lived there for about 2 years and it was around 17 years ago

Minor league hockey

Love it .... my choices would be baseball ( especially a yankee game ) and a glass of wine .... but I can totally relate ! Lol

Luckily for you, there is a lot of good baseball left. For me, the Jays usually lay down and die this time of year just in time for hockey to start.

Enjoy your wine and October baseball!

I think I jinxed it .... they lost ... but I still love going to a game ! 140FAFC2-2D87-4E30-8A1F-7EE3A192D81C.jpeg

Awesome!

At least the games still have meaning. All I get these days is seeing a rookie hit for the cycle. ;)

Awww ... I have to say tho... these games aren’t the same without Jeter !

I grew up a Flames fan in Calgary. I remember in winter of 1980, after they moved to Calgary from Atlanta, I met two of the players (Brad Marsh, who was still a Flame at the time, and Bob MacMillan, who was ultimately traded to Colorado before they moved two New Jersey and became the Devils) at a shopping mall. The Flames played in the Stampede Corral at the time, a small venue that sat around 7,000 or 8,000 people. My dad had seasons tickets right behind the home bench. (side note: The Corral was also where Stampede Wrestling was held).

Anyway, I met those two players and ended up at the game the next day. During pre-game warm up Bob MacMillan broke his stick. He remembered me from the day before and gave me his stick. Shortly after that the goalie - Pat Riggin - broke his stick and gave it to me as well.

MacMillan was traded to Colorado in the exchange that sent Lanny McDonald to Calgary. I followed MacMilan to Colorado, and then to New Jersey, and for a long number of years was a Devil's fan as a result.

I'm in Delaware now. Interestingly, one of my neighbours is also a Flames fan, even though he's never been to the city. We have fun with that.

Man those names bring back memories. Brad Marsh is a player from a long gone era that I loved. I can still recall the Pat Riggin hockey card where they didn't have photoshop and had to orange the Atlanta crest off his jersey.

If you are a Devils fan, you are in for some good years coming up. We have Kinkaid and you have PK (along with a BUNCH of awesome young prospects) Gonna be a fun season!

You look so cozy!
Yeah, there's no news from Partiko and the dev are not talking about anything. My point is not showing and working anymore. I would say hold the points, maybe they will announce something big, who knows!

I look at those points and just wonder. Not like 112k points amounts to very much steem (valued at $.15) so I will just sit on them I guess.

I am cozy ad back in my September happy place after a long summer.
