Crypto Community: Holdex Review

Holdex is a platform for crypto users to discover blockchain projects and learn about those applications. It is kind like a social media type of thing that you can follow crypto projects and like/dislike posts and comments.

You can also follow other crypto users and connect with them on this platform so that it creates one big community network for crypto heads and enthusiasts... at least that is what they are trying to do, I think.

Holdex, the name comes from a "joke" that you hold "ex" like you hold on to crypto or something. I really don't get the joke, and I am not sure why you need to hold on to "ex"... maybe because you hold on to "ex" so that you can pump and dump anytime you want to get a shiny new replacement!? That is not nice and why would anyone use that kind of "joke" for a company name? I really don't know, but that is just me.

Anyway, Holdex is kind of like a mixture of Facebook and Reddit. Instead of finding friends on Facebook, you find and follow crypto users and projects on Holdex and their communities are like subreddits. They are all about crypto projects and blockchain techs. You can find your favorite crypto apps or discover new projects in their community explore page.
Not much going on here but there is Hive and Steem"it"? here too

Here is the Holdex platform design and user experience (UI/UX)

My profile page has settings for ETH address and billing page so that I thought this was a crypto blogging and social media that rewards crypto users, but I guess that wasn't the case.
It is really hard to understand what it is because there is no help, FAQ or "Get Started" thing so that you can get the idea of what this platform is and what to do with it.

This is their Linkedin description:

A community-driven marketplace where anyone can discover and experience Blockchain applications

I am kind of confused about the "marketplace" thing. I thought I had to go there and buy something to discover crypto or something. This description and what they are doing on their website didn't make sense to me... at first.

And then this

For Blockchain projects, we offer great tools for brand awareness, community-building, fundraising, and user acquisition and activation. From influencer networks, automated Bounties, and Airdrop solutions — any Campaign whether token-based or non-token-based can be successfully launched on Holdex.

I am still not 100% on this but it seems to me that Holdex has two things going on.

1. A platform that provides crypto social media environment so that crypto users will come, hangout and interact with each other. This will create vibrant active crypto communites.

2. A platform that helps crypto business and projects because it is hard for crypto startups to get recognized and grow their business and tap into target users so that Holdex can use their crypto communities and data to build a solid user-base for new projects.

I feel like Holdex's main focus is #2 and it is kind of like a google's "Find My Audience" service.

For example, a new crypto project, BBQswap, goes live, Holdex will find audiences for them and help build a user base because Holdex already has communities like Uniswap and Sushiswap and all the other swaps.
And BBQswap can gain new users and grow their project and also crypto users can get exposures to new projects and learn about those projects.

I think Holdex could be a great platform for new crypto projects and businesses especially if you have a new project that needs user base, and also it could be a great resource for crypto users to discover, explore and learn new blockchain technology.
(but i think they need more growing to do too?! 🙊)

Dear @tomoyan

I trully wonder if regular users can find value in holdex. My initial impression was not the strongest one: I was like "what the hell is this site about"?

So my main question would be: can holdex hold users attention? Would people re-visit their website for any reason? Right now I'm quite unsure what to think.

Holdex, the name comes from a "joke" that you hold "ex" like you hold on to crypto or something. I really don't get the joke, and I am not sure why you need to hold on to "ex"
I think this must be some sort of Russian joke (after all, CEO is from Russia) :)

It is really hard to understand what it is because there is no help, FAQ or "Get Started" thing so that you can get the idea of what this platform is and what to do with it.
You nailed it.
Knowing that most people suffer short attention span - I would not expect many to actually spent much time trying to figure out what Holdex is about.

ps.
I would like to thank you for investing your own time, doing research and sharing your thoughts about HOLDEX.

I'm not sure if conversation with them will go. It's hard to tell if there is any room for collaboration between them and our community. Tomorrow I will find out more, while having skype call with their CEO.

Yours, Piotr

Hi @crypto.piotr, As a regular user, it it hard to tell what to do on this site... like should I follow people? should post something is it okay to do thing? I was pretty confused too. They need to guide users. But then the CEO was talking about the other side of their business, user user acquisition. So I think their focus is more on this end. But then there isn't much going on the site so not sure if they can actually get users for crypto projects.

Appreciate your comment @tomoyan

Hi @tomoyan!

CEO of Holdex is here 🙂

Thank you for your review!

It is great feedback. We will make notes internally and consider the enhancements to make the UX better.

About the Holdex brand name.

We want people to be invested long-term (that is "hold") in Crypto. And also we want to encourage them to take advantage of new opportunities in Crypto and exchange (that is "ex"). So hold + ex = holdex.

Cheers,
Vadim, CEO at Holdex
