A story that occurred at the end of Paul's third missionary journey explains in the Book of Acts the relationship of this famous Christian preacher with the holy spirit.
Paul founded many churches in Greece and wrote many letters to encourage the faith of the first Christian communities in the pagan world. His actions had given new impetus to the teachings of Jesus, to the point of making him almost the true founder of the Christian religion; but his spiritual mission had to conclude in Rome and Paul had accepted his destiny, the apostle Paul was a guided, enlightened, and inspired person.
The Book of Acts of the Apostles tells us that upon arriving in the city of Caesarea from Phoenicia, Paul met a prophet named Agabus who prophesied his future. Paul would be arrested and taken to Rome to be judged. But without fear and without hatred, like the master Jesus, Paul accepted his destiny, Paul knew that the holy spirit had to work through him until his last days.
This is how the Book of Acts tells us the prophecy about Paul's last journey, and his determined attitude to face the end:
"We reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven. He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.
After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, ´The Holy Spirit says, ´In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of his belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.´´
When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, ´Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.´
When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, ´The Lord's will be done.´" Acts 21:8-14.
