How many of you are away from home? how does it feel after a year?

in home •  7 years ago  (edited)

When we live and grow up only in one place, we always have the curiosity of what is out and beyond our own mainland.
And so people like me, decided to not stay but leave to a bigger city and have a "taste" of what outside taste like.

IT TASTE SWEET!

6 things I learn after being away

  1. Independent
Without your family by your side, there is no comfort shelter to look for when you're in difficulty. What I learn is to prioritize from big things to small things in life.

  2. Limitless opportunity to grow
What I love about big city is there is no limit to grow. You get to tap into just about any industry you interested in. Unlike small town, everything is limited because most Startup started in big cities compared to small cities.
I have jump from operation to digital marketing to sales within a year. On top of that, I get to do passive income easily in big city, because demand is there.

  3. BRAVE
Independent means you have to be brave to seek opportunity yourself especially when you're alone in a big city with no connection. Teaches me to be brave to talk with strangers ( People in big cities are friendly too!) and built your connection from scratch. After all is the people that you know that will help you.

  4. Exposure (people)
Big city means we get to exposure to a lot of people from different country, they can be your colleague, your superior, or the person you meet in events.
When you have the opportunity to talk with them, you are able to understanding and be open-minded about people's culture.

  5. Understand new places
When you live in a new states, their culture tends to be different than your home.
City can be - Fast and chaotic and you don't get to go to the beach after work if you want to.

  6. Love home
I glad I took a jump from small town to a big city.
I learn to love my home more, it is always home have a better sunset/ sunset.
It is always home that has better food.
It is always home that has better fresh clean air

Since I am already away, my curiosity expand a lot and no matter how homesick I am, I always excited and happy to look forward what future brings me to in a big city.
