Coming Back to Reality with a Bump!

Good morning from England after nine hours of sleep, we slept like the dead last night after a morning of border issues to do with the amount of time that @dayleeo stays here at a time, having to verify the remote worker situation, that she’s not here for free healthcare etc — it was good that we were together because next time they might detain her so we can’t have that situation happening when she goes back next year or comes back again, we got a bunch of information this time again so we think we know what paperwork we need, the guy gave us a bunch of information and told us all about the ways that some people try and play the system regarding immigration and dipping in and out of the country, one woman had stayed for seven years flitting back and forth. Crazy.

Then we encountered this weird situation on the bus where this guy tried to take a photo of us after talking to this girl that was just about to come up on her 18th birthday, it was odd and we told the girl to file a police report about it as a backup/protection and that if he got on the same bus in the future to move to another section of the bus, he was an elderly drunk guy and it seems he drinks everyday like that. I did’nt like the way he was talking to this girl but I felt she knew him the way she was communicating back, kinda a bump back to the reality of this broken feeling northern town — I’ve never liked it there, that’s why being in the field in the van away from those places is bliss to me.

i was super glad to see the van and my little smart again, even if the battery doesn’t start this morning (dammit) I can amazon prime myself a charger to fix that situation over the next couple of days before I pick Bella up in a few days time. I’ve really missed her, I think I’ve lost in transition my locket with her painting in. I hope it’s not a permanent loss and it will make it back to me some how. I’m glad I had her with me while I travelled, I did have worries before I travelled out about something happening I won’t lie so I wanted to have part of her with me. I’m pumped to be home to see here, now the work hustle keeps in again.

adjusting finances now back

So you might not know this but me and @dayleeo has to power down a lot for this trip, we kinda live quite close to the poverty line at times and although dayle has had great success on upwork she re-invested a chunk of change in bitcoin early on so that’s doing great work in HODL mode right now, we need to get funds back onto her credit card and get my car fixed up for the winter months.

it’s head down mode and crack on with outstanding client work, I’ve got three people waiting for me to engage this week so I gotta pick all that up starting today, the great sleep last night helped — not taking a laptop or computer with you on a trip means you can’t really go multi threaded on vlogging, editing etc but I’d rather not have the extra weight or the easy out to jump on that rather than enjoying my time where I’m going.

back to course building

Yay! My course minutes are up this month more than usual, I’ll take it, makes me think that more people are changing jobs or just maybe that now is the time for learning over the next few months for a life reboot in January, it’s funny how you notice these trends over time when you just have courses sitting there ready for consumption — now my plan is to crush November taking in December so that I get a good payout in January because that’s always been a problem month for me regarding month.

As a freelancer you have to plan out your media calendar schedule regards output, I’ve not managed to predict what will work better I just teach what I’ve done and I know and then build on that over time — I’ve found that having near 100 courses means I can roughly work out the minutes per month that I can expect, the big push is the big financial amount on the second week into January to set me up for the momentum for the month

back into the van life is easy

Salt lamp on, heater kicking out that heat power, internet on, cassette toilet change this morning and eggs and beans and nice coffee for breakfast, I’m so glad that the whole trip went smoothly and I loved portugal, oh man I can’t even tell you how much fun it was I’m saving that for a bunch of other posts, we walked nearly 80k over the last week as well so I feel mentally sharp and on point and my breathing is good, wanna keep that up — so glad that we never had any big complications at the border and it’s now time to start pulling resources together to be able to apply for the correct visa so that never happens again.

I miss the hot weather, the walking the streets, the people, the food and the what felt like unlimited beer for four of those days but it’s good to be home, back to the desktop, multi threaded tabs running at the pace of my brain but I’m super thankful for this platform for getting me there and if the 300 people that were at the event are a barometer of what people are like on the platform then you know that other people are fighting for steem to be here for many years to come — ignore the price, invest in the people at this community and platform because they are some of the most nicest and thought provoking people I’ve ever met from any online community so far in my over decade and more of being connected on the internet.
