Sunday, we set up fourty feet of canopy, and filled them with tables. Then we filled those up with food, and served 364 meals to 325 homeless people (and one pit bull, LOL)!
We served food and drinks for about an hour and a half, and served until no one else was hungry anymore. It always is a blessing, and I am still tired, but for a good reason! These are Good people, in a bad spot, who appreciate the help!
22,000 watts of generators to keep the roasters hot.
holy cow this is an impressive operation! who pays for all this, is this a church ministry project or outreach? Bless you all for this!

We have been buying one thing at a time for years. Several churches help with food. The people that serve out a roaster usually fill that roaster themselves. We have eight to ten kitchens feeding this table. I made two roasters of Chicken Alfredo (10 gallons) on and two of spaghetti (10 gallons) with a large roaster of garlic bread. We had augratin potatoes, Mac and cheese, chili, peas and carrots, Butter beans, a kitchen sink salad, and a dozen pecan pies (we ran out of these). We served about 70 gallons of hot food.
Mixed up about 30 gallons of lemonaid (they like lemonaid), gave out chips and packaged little debbie cakes (donated by the company), and used 100 pounds of ice (free from the ice company). But the food is all what we would put on our own tables, and they LOVE it! This is in the third year now, the hardest thing was getting the homeless to trust us. We started out with one roaster of food and an 8 quart kettle of mac and cheese, under a 10 foot canopy. We served 60 the first time.

GOD always blesses everyone that serves! It is humbling to be allowed to be His hands even for a few hours!
Last Sunday of every month, is this hot meal. We give out clothes, and other items, on the second Sunday. We found another group to serve food on the second Sunday, so this is spreading.
Every city has a significant homeless poplulation, so his is not unusual. Getting them to trust, and show up, was a major job! We actually fed them under the bridges for several years (still do some of that) to get them to trust us enough to walk to this parking lot. I have fed one homeless guy (BTW, he is there by choice...some are) for over two years, and he Just started to talk to me!
Other small ministries have begun to come out when we feed, to give away other things. The homeless will accept items from them here, where they would hide from them under the bridges; and it is a little safer fo rthe ladies. Sometimes as much as 30 cars are there, and that has been growing too. These small ministries took up a collection for us, because they said they could not reach these people without us. They handed us over a Thousand dollars to help! That is where the first big blue canopy, and a bunch of the tables came from.

We are placing homeless in jobs. Next Sunday is the clothes day. We give them clothes to help them look less like homeless, and send them to what jobs we have been able to find. Several of the workers helping us now, used to be homeless....

We ask at a lot of businesses. We hit one car wash, where the help had NO SHOWED, a few months ago. He wanted someone NOW! We brought one of the homeless, and he went to work that day! There are now four homeless working there, and he is thrilled! There is a group meeting on helping the homeless here; that meets once a month, that coordinates efforts. We pick up some jobs there too.
We are working on a 501c, but it is expensive. All I need to do is come up with an extra $1000, ROFLOL!
