I danced a little dance yesterday when a patient told me that my remedies had outperformed their morphine prescription!
Brief story, but one I feel it’s important to tell.
Jane is a 55 year old woman who came to see me earlier this year with hormonal hot flushes. She had been suffering on and off for years and had been down the HRT route, but had stopped taking it as there was a strong history of breast cancer in the family.
Her GP had put her on Citalopram instead. Now Citalopramis an antidepressant (SSRI), and Jane had no issues with her mental health, it was just the hot flushes and sleepless nights that were the issue.
The Citalopram made her have palpitations and panic attacks (which were all new to her) she came to see me in a desperate state. I took her case and gave her remedies for the flushes (which incidentally stopped about 48 hours later!) She was delighted.
Fast forward to this week and I get a call from her to say she had a pinched nerve in her upper spine, along with degeneration from scoliosis aggravating the issue, she was in agony and the GP had given her Gabapentin, which is a strong drug to treat epileptic seizures and also prescribed for nerve pain (again Jane does not have epilepsy or seizures) The GP had also given her Oramorphto help the unbearable pain. Neither of these drugs were doing much to help. If she took the maximum dose it would “take the edge off”
Jane is now familiar with the homeopathic process and was able to give me some very specific descriptions of the pain sensations, they were like “fuzzy electric shocks” and were intense pains, that appeared suddenly and faded away gradually. Her neck and spine were extremely sensitive to movement, and the pain was driving her to despair.
I gave her Hypericum 200C to take in place of the prescription drugs as she had decided there was not any real benefit from continuing with them, and she was concerned about taking the Oramorph.
2 days later she emailed me to say that the remedy had given her way more relief that the drugs and that she was no longer suffering. She is having physio and osteopathic treatment and hoping that combined with the pain relief that this will the issue long term.
I am often shocked at how drugs like these are prescribed so easily to people. Citalopram seems like a pretty heavy duty drug to use to tackle a hormonal issue. Well, its not actually tackling the flushes or hormonal issue is it? It's just creating a suppression of the sweats, and at what cost?
There is nothing remarkable about this case, it isn't one of my Wow cases, but nonetheless my patients are always surprised and delighted when these issues are tackled holistically.
Homeopathy is capable of amazing things when prescribed correctly. With remedies fitting all YOUR pain sensations, prescribed to YOU individually. Not a generic prescription drug that gives you more problems than you had before you started taking it.
