Late Lateness Latefulness

in homeschool •  7 years ago

My pupil didn't arrive on time.

As a matter of fact, I had to go and wake the pupil at 7 AM.

The pupil arrived 20 minutes late and left his common sense, and good nature, at the door.

I'd been nice enough to bring fresh fruit salad in anticipation of forthcoming hunger.

I mean... who's in the wrong here?

I was told:
"You didn't wake me."
"I didn't sleep well last night."
"You don't understand just how little I slept."
"I'm hungry."
"I've been hungry all night."

I told him:
"I came to your room five times."
"The first time, you sat up and spoke to me."
"In the 'working world,' none of your excuses would mean anything; you're not paid for time missed."
"I made fresh fruit salad in anticipation of your lateness."

I continued my reprimand for 15 minutes, and the proceeded with our regular work.

About an HOUR ago, he said to:

"I'm sorry. I acted a fool this morning."

I responded:

"You got the right!"

I think he expected more.

But let me be honest: I. Don't. Care.

It would have been too easy of a fight to win.

Plus homeschool ends at 3 PM.

After 3 o'clock, he could burn down the house for all I care.

I don't get paid overtime.

Plus...

I don't get paid at all!

Hmmm...

Tomorrow, I'll plan on being late for homeschool.

Let's see if he docks my pay.

Oh...he ate the fruit salad that he didn't want.
