How I run the tractor for the sawmill

in homeschool •  8 years ago

Hello, my name is Joshua. I am The Homeschool Kid.
Today I am going to show you how I work on the tractor so it runs our sawmill.
Homeschool is not all just sitting down and doing school subjects. For me, it is also learning about the homestead.
A sawmill is a mill that cuts logs to make wooden boards for building things.
Did you know that in the old days most mills were turned by water?
They were built next to a creek so the mill's wheel turned just like a windmill's wheel turns in the wind.
This is a picture of me running the tractor that turns our sawmill.

This is a picture of the gauge that shows how fast you are running the tractor. The faster you are running the tractor, the faster the sawmill's blade turns.

This is a picture of the throttle.

If I want to make the tractor run faster, I put the throttle down.
If I want to make the tractor run slower, I put the throttle up.
That is how I run the tractor so it powers the sawmill.
