As a guitar player and homeschooling instructor I cannot say enough about the Yousician app. This scene is the common morning at our house. Unprovoked, our kids are on the app and practicing the guitar via Yousician. One of the best things about homeschooling is that we are able to foster the much needed aspect of a desire to learn. We figure out what our kids want to learn and do what we can to let them figure things out on their own.
Yousician has a massive bank of skill sets and songs that incrementally teaches new skills in an increasing level of difficulty... where its all accessible by making even the hardest songs to play doable. This is accomplished by simply selecting a slower tempo to play along with. I am shocked at our 10 year old's level of progress in just a month she can finger pick her way through riffs and even sing along to songs as she plays. Detractors claim that Yousician lacks the human touch. Well, that's where I come in! As a guitar player, I can step in and show the kids good technique and show them how to practice challenging components of riffs through repetition. I also love to play along with the kids giving us heaps of jam time together in a very structured and developmental manner, accessible to our kids. I am a very selective user of devices (I'll post on this another time) but clearly this is a time when having a device is a very productive homeschooling tool in our toolkit for our children.
