We were not expecting the girls this weekend, but then their Mom and Dad had a chance to catch up with an old friend so they came for an overnight! While one of the twins and the baby sister sat in the living room watching carefully approved children's videos, "K-Bear" came in to hang out with granny and grandpa and learn about cryptos with @joshsigurdson. :)

Low Carb Ranch Dressing

This is a simple recipe and you may want to play with the amounts to suit your taste. I never really use measuring spoons so it is never quite the same twice... but this is a good place to start!

 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
 1/2 teaspoon salt
 2 teaspoons dried dill weed
 1 Tablespoon dried parsley
2 or 3 cloves minced garlic
 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
 1/4 cup olive oil

Mix well, store in refrigerator, use within a few days. This has about 15 grams of carbohydrate in the entire recipe.
You will notice I stir this with a silver spoon. You will find if you use real silver whenever you work with dairy products, they will not get moldy as quickly. Silver has antimicrobial properties and it is sort of like using sterile instruments on your sour cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.

If you have not looked into ketogenic eating, let me "tease" your interest with one little fact that they do not teach doctors or nurses: When a baby is born, it is in a ketogenic state of metabolism. So long as it is exclusively breast fed it STAYS in a ketogenic state. It is NOT the same thing as diabetic ketosis. You don't have to make a big "thing" of it, just think... should SUGAR be the mainstay of a human diet? Because that is what starch is to our digestive system. Anyway, I encourage people to research this, because it has been a tremendous boost to the health of everyone in this household. Easily maintaining a healthy weight is just one of the rewards.

Well, the winter that wasn't finally is. Our trees and shrubs are all budding out, spring wants to come and spring fever finally caught up with me last week. It was sunny, warm and I knew better but I had to plant something. I went with lettuce and kale since they will be OK with cool weather and as they are something I use on our keto lifestyle.

It did not photograph well, but all that glare out the window is from snow. The little seeds had no sooner sprouted than winter arrived. We got more snow in the last week than we had in all of December and January by my reckoning. Got cold and windy on us, too! But even when the weather is challenging, the scenery is stunning. Snapped a couple shots for the "goldenhour" challenge this week, this is one that did not make the cut... Just a dandy sunset the other night!

The ketogenic diet info is very useful, I've always thought high fat diet was bad for health.

Silver spoons are on my list of things to purchase!
