How important is a good chainsaw?

This stihl was in my budget. Its a ms 170. Its not a big saw but i did not need big saw just something to cut up fire wood.

The price was great $180 plus tax with one year warranty. But if you bought the six pack of oil you got two year warranty. I was totally sold. I also bought bar oil. The total after tax was $209 and i have two year warranty. I was so excited to have my very first saw.

This is the only saw ive ever had and even though i from washington state i never used one before. After a few tips and hands on help from fellow homesteaders i was off and running. The saw cuts great and makes quick work on smaller trees. The only thing i noticed is the chain gets dull fast. I dont know how to sharpen yet lol. I have been taking to shop to have sharpened. Its cheap $6 to get sharpened.

The bar is only 16in but dont need a bigger yet.
So if your looking for a cheap saw that will last you and that you can find service shop for then check out your local sthil dealer.
