For me personally, I'd let the owner of the tree know and see what they say. I'm pretty sure I'd be overruled by my Filipino family and they would just cut the bananas and keep them. If I felt really strong about not cutting it at the time, I'd lift the bananas up and put them on the owner's side of the fence.
