Using A Old Office Trailer And Making A Small House From It.

You always see these old office trailers up for sale and sometimes you can pick them up on the cheap. We did this when we first moved to the area we live in but we used it for storage for a while. We figured we could use it for storage and have our stuff close by when we needed something instead of driving 10 or 15 miles when we needed something. We also figured in the cost of renting a storage unit at 65.00 dollars a month and we would have needed two units to fit everything in. We are a family of seven so we are a big household so it made sense to get this office trailer. We used it for three years for storage and it would have cost us about 4800.00 for the storage units plus the gas of running back and forth to it when we need to get something out of it. We saved over 3600.00 dollars by buying this office trailer. We have since downsized and went through and sold some stuff we did not need or use anymore and got it just about cleared out, we ask ourselves what will we do with this office trailer now?

We decided to make it a small house. We are building a homestead and we will be building Air Crete houses on this property, but it takes some time to do this as you have to make the block and get things ready to go. You cannot buy Air Crete in the U.S. so you make them. We have 90 percent of the things we need to make this office trailer into a small house from finding things on clearance at the big box stores and we would buy it a put it up for later use. We will redo the wiring as it stolen while the trailer was sitting to be sold and as an office trailer it had very little in it to begin with. Fix the walls and ceiling where they tore out the wiring and add walls to make a bathroom and bedrooms. Add a window or two and you have a small house. It is on the back side of the property so it will be out of the way from where we are building the other houses. We can then use it as a place to can and store food and as a place when we have friends stop by to stay in.

Here is the start of getting it ready to become a small house. We first had to level it and then we will get it tied down and start the wiring and such.

Yes, we will still do Air Crete as that has been the goal all along but we are trying to be as comfortable as possible on the homestead until that day comes. We will be posting updates on how this is going so be sure to follow us on Steemit.
I will be posting more picture and videos of this every step of the way. I want you to see anything can be done when you set your mind to it. I have to admit, I had to look up what an Air Crete house was- please ignore my ignorance here.
Well, I searched it and thought WOW! Now that is a cool structure!

Can't wait to see yours when it's done.
I'll keep watching for updates on the old trailer too!

I had the same question....

Don`t worry I will post about Air Crete as we go also. Got to get the small home (trailer) put together and we will be doing lots with Air Crete.

It's huge !!! Will be interesting to see how you go. Good on you!

It is a 14 x 45 office trailer. Which is about 600 sq ft.

I would love to see more pictures and hear more about Air Crete!

When I get to the inside there will be lots of pictures. The Air Crete is coming, I am writing a blog on it now. It is full of info and pictures so bare with me.

Solid idea. Thanks for the show. Haven't thought about this but a really good idea. Enjoyed!

It is just something that can help if you are starting a homestead and need something to get you by until you can build your houses. It then makes a great cooking and canning and food storage area. Then it is somewhere to just sit and ponder on life and relax where it will be quiet after you are done for the day.
