What's wrong with this picture?

All our chickens are the same age and breed, however, they don't always produce the same size eggs as you can see here.

It looks like the bigger one might be a double yoke and the small one may be a "fart egg", which just means a tiny egg with possibly no yoke. Both are really common. You will probably find that certain hens tend toward one or the other.

Enjoy!

You're correct, mwe usually see double yolks in the really large eggs and the small one are usually yolk-less. I have never heard them called fart eggs, I'll remember that one!

No new pullets?
I suspect fowl play :-D

No, and that he s funny😂

What Breed? Very interesting @brimax

Red sex linked.mwe get these birds to specifically exclude getting roosters.

Home or farm raised eggs are far superior to those industrial months old ones in the grocery store.

That was one of they many reasons we started raising our own birds.

Wow!, why does this happen?

I'm not really sure, but they all taste great'

I think one of your chickens must be an ostrich :D

It certainly seems that way

I have Red Sex Link chickens that lay very large eggs. @cullyguy

That's what ours are, the small one is the strange one.

Chickens are such interesting critters.

They bring certain challenges, but the rewards are great!

We get a range of sizes too. The stores just want all theirs the same size, so most people never see how big and small eggs can be.

I knew you would get this. How are the girls?

They are fine. They do like to roam the garden, but have to be supervised. Learning to come back into their pen when food is on offer.

We always use the same call so the birds respond immediately and will always come running for whatever goodies we have for them.
We let them into the gardens in the fall so they can turn it all over for us.
Glad to hear they are doing well.
