My 2 Year Anniversary - January 23, 2020 @goldenoakfarm

It all started with this post on January 23, 2018:

About My Farm and Myself

“As I lay under the warm quilt in bed this morning at 4AM, listening to the wind as it roared around the house, I thought about how to write my introduction. I often lay warm under the covers after waking and think about what I need to do during the coming day. It’s even better if it’s cold and I can hear the wind or rain outside the open window. The security of being warm when it’s cold outside.”

I’d worked up topics for 90 days under Headings like:

● Gardens Day on Sundays – 1st Post: https://steemit.com/growingginger/@goldenoakfarm/growing-a-little-spice-in-your-life

● Herb Fascination on Wednesdays – 1st Post: https://steemit.com/growingherbs/@goldenoakfarm/herb-fascination-echinacea

● Chickens Day on Saturdays – 1st Post: https://steemit.com/chickenflock/@goldenoakfarm/building-our-flock-with-breed-blocks

● Humor Day every other Thursday – 1st Post: https://steemit.com/pigs/@goldenoakfarm/how-to-put-up-a-piggy-dripper

I did a second #introduceyourself post on February 26 in response to requests for my story:

So I posted nearly every day for the first 90 days.

Over the last 2 years I’ve had lulls where I was too busy to post, usually in midsummer. But I’ve always resumed posting regularly within a few months.

There were a lot of people in the homesteading community when I first started. Many disappeared when Steem started losing value. I miss many of them. I had not joined Steemit to make money but rather to use it as a platform to write about what I was doing on the homestead.

I’d been doing this on FB but they started blocking my posts from people seeing them. So when I heard about Steemit from @Hillsboroughhomestead and how she made money posting on Steemit, I set about trying to figure out how to post.

I tried doing contests and so forth that first year, but I really didn’t like doing that kind of thing. I just wanted to post about my life on the homestead. My posts serve another purpose: memory. Lyme disease has trashed my memory and by writing posts of what I do, I have a record I can go back and read.

I am a highly visual person, so my posts tend to have a lot of photos. This also helps with the memory.

When Steem got really low, I just started powering up and did not take anything out. I only took money out a couple times within the first 4 months of 2018, and then never again. I just exceed 2000 SP yesterday. But the earning is not very important to me. I just want to post.

So my journey on Steemit is different from what I read others have done in their time on this platform. But I am happy with what I do, and I like reading what other write or create. I am grateful there’s a Steemit platform I can do it on.

Happy 2nd Steem Anniversary! I am glad we met here. You sure have many years of experience with chickens and I am so sorry to hear that you had Lyme disease. I too had it and I am in remission now. Love the photos and looking forward to your posts of life on your farm. : )

I am glad you were able to be treated soon enough for remission! It's nothing to mess about with. My husband came home from the library with a new Lyme book Bitten about Lyme disease. I've just started it, so don't know yet how good it will be. The author and her husband have had Lyme so that's what got her started.

I was lucky because I felt the painful bite and kept the tick. I got the red bullseye and went straight to the ER. I was put on the special antibiotics right away. They tested the tick and a day later they told me that the reason it was so painful when it bit me was because it was loaded with diseases. I sure hope that the new book helps you.

Hi @tarazkp! Are your sure the tokens should go to me? It isn't my birthday...it is @goldenaokfarm's birthday.

Congratulations on your two years on Steem.

Keep them rolling...

Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to post about your journey. I find your posts extremely interesting and informative. Many of the topics that you write about are a lost art. Congratulations on your anniversary.

I am glad you enjoy them. :)) It's been a nice 2 years. :))

It's always good to hear a a background story on why people Steem, particularly when they've been here a while. I really think there needs to be a solid reason, other than earning, to keep people here; especially in the western world where it's not something you can easily earn enough to pay your way. I think quite a few Steem to document things that are important to them.
