We had to move the pasture pen for the last time on Sunday.

First pullet eggs sold crop September 2019.jpg

We’ve been getting up to 6 eggs for 18 birds lately. The Barred Rocks started laying first, but it’s good to see the Australorps have started. I just got my first call for pullet eggs on Sunday. A few of my customers really like the little eggs, which I sell for $3.00/dozen.

The old layers have been sending up 4 -5 eggs for 14 birds, and many of them are molting, so it is time. By mid October it will be time to send the old flock to Freezer Camp. There are only 14 of them, and they will all be boned for ground chicken, so we should finish in 1 day.

Oh, oh, hope they aren't mostly roosters... :))

Im sure they will be, lol. The guy who dropped them off will take them back.if so. I will just get a buzz out of baby chickens lol.

That's pretty cool then! An excellent way to have baby chicks. :))

Aww sweet looking girls. :) I enjoy chickens so much. Ours are pretty polite with the nest boxes. Often they choose to cram in together. Hahaha. Silly girls.
