Snow and the Big garden crop January 2020.jpg

Monday morning I had to do the farm chores as my husband was still under the weather. It had started to snow when I headed out. Before I went to the barn, I noticed the bird feeders were empty so I filled them. As I loaded the car, I got this shot of the snow coming down.

At the barn, Dennis the Girl greeted me at the door. I saw a Lily flash here and there too. Usually it’s Dennis being the flash, but not this morning.

But that was not all that greeted me when I walked in the door. There was this mess of things brought up from the house and left sitting here.

I fed the cats and the hens. Their coop was smelly, but with my husband laid up, it wasn’t going to be cleaned in the next day or so, so I put more bedding down.

With all my in-and-out of the coop the temperature dropped enough to cause the heat lamps to come on. They serve to keep the water from freezing.

Then I set to work putting away all the mess by the door. I’d been at the barn for an hour when my husband appeared. He didn’t realize I always try to accomplish something at the barn when I go up, cleaning things up usually.

When I’d nearly finished (I still needed to pick those red trays up), I got this photo of the snow. I tossed the hens a pumpkin near the dusting area to keep them occupied and outside while it snowed.

I had to go back to do chores in the afternoon and the snow had melted. There was no sign of the pumpkin and the hens were all down in the snowy end that hadn’t melted when I arrived. No telling about what hens will do!

Tuesday my helper friend will be here and there’s several small odd chores we will try to get done.

Sorry your hubby is feeling under the weather! Hope he gets better soon.

Stay warm!

We could do with swapping a bit of our heat with your cold!

By this time of winter, I'd gladly do it! I'm ready for spring and have 4 more months to wait!
