Homesteaders - Living Naturally, Newsletter. 22nd January 2020

in homesteading •  5 years ago

Isn't this month just flying by! We're already racing towards the close of January. I'm glad to see activity is picking up again on Steem, as people get back into their routines.

There are so many amazing posts out there this week and I've been spamming the curators with them. I seem to have been finding a bit of a community and care of the people theme happening, or maybe they're just reaching out to me more than usual. I can sometimes lean too much to the practical side of things, but there's more to the alternative lifestyles than that. Community and developing our interactions with others is so important and there are some wonderful articles for you in this week's newsletter. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Things happening in the community.

The @ecotrain is moving full steam ahead as always. This week's question of the week asks if we should judge others by our own values. Then @eco-alex has put up the first of the non violent communication workshops.

Do you homeschool your children? If so you might enjoy joining the conversation over at the @HomeEdders topic of the week, how do your children learn?

While they haven't put up their famous contests for a little while, things are still busy over at @naturalmedicine, where they're curating so much fantastic work. If natural medicine and health is an interest for you, then I can thoroughly recommend visiting their page for the best picks in the resteems and the curation posts.

Welcoming Newcomers

@coffeedrinker112 is not very new to Steem, a couple of months in, but this is the first time I've come across this account. This fantastic post was what caught my attention, but I nearly didn't click the link, because it didn't seem that pertinent to homesteading. I'm so glad I did, because it's a wonderful read and a true reminder for us to be aware of ourselves.

Some highlights of the week

In The Still Garden, @donnadavisart has been setting some quail eggs in the incubator. Besides having a bit of information on incubating quails, it's just a lovely video to watch in its entirety.

The importance of community and how we treat one another seems to be at the forefront of my mind at the moment. So it feels pertinent to share @riverflow's latest post on her local gardeners swap meet. There's a feeling of the acceptance of all for the benefit of all.

@pennsif has been looking into the prepping side of things again and reassessing some goals for preparedness. In this second post on the subject, he looks at food storage and compares the pros and cons of tinned versus freeze dried.

This is more of an index, but I think @jacobpeacock's articles could be valuable as a go-to for anyone wanting to learn more about projects which could be a huge help when living offgrid..
