I know, it's late. But I didn't want to 0lant before we were in the new house. We're a couple weeks out from that, so we started some seeds today for the tomatoes, peppers, and marigolds.
We used the two cardboard egg cartons, for 24 total planters and pods. The pods are from https://www.seedsnow.com. I bought a 50 pack because I didn't think we'd need a whole lot.
First we cut up the cartons. Sophie is super excited. She picked out the bell peppers we are growing!
It said to cut them up into individuals, but I felt like they would stand better as pairs while presenting minimal inconvenience when replanting.
Next we put the pods into the cups and wet them down. Oma (my mom) helped! She's our big knowledge bank here. She says hi, blockchain!
We let them soak a while. Dad and I went to feed the horses. When we got back, we pruned the trees in their front yard. I enjoy tree work a lot. Odd because I'm scared to death of heights.
After soaking, we dug small holes about ¼" deep. Here's Soph planting her peppers. Happy princess.
Then we labeled them.
Big Rainbow Tomatoes (6)
Tiny Tim Tomatoes (6)
Marigolds (6)
Red Bell Peppers (6)
We have more seeds left too, so we'll plant tose when we actually get to the house. I was just anxious to get started. There's a coupon code if you're looking to order from seedsnow. So far my experience with them has been positive. I have no reason not to order, and they gave us the discount card, so there's more incentive to be a repeat customer. I will remember them when it's time to order more.
Hope it helps! Share your planting too :)
Stay relevant y'all
