TESTING OUT OUR HOMEMADE GOAT MILKING MACHINE!

Success!

Well, we got to take the homemade goat milker that my "mad scientist" @mama-pepper put together and it was a success! If you check out this brief video, keep a few things in mind. First, the video is LOUD since we are using a vacuum sealer. Also, it is a short one, but certainly still shows it working.

THE GOAT MILKER IN ACTION

TRYING NEW THINGS IS BEST WHEN IT WORKS!

So, this was a rather simple idea, but it took some effort to gather all the parts and assemble it. Moreover, @mama-pepper did both the research and assembly on this one, since I was gone picking up a flock of sheep. The basic idea is that a vacuum sealer pulls the milk out of the goat teats into a mason jar. We weren't sure what to expect, but we did get it to work.

We really like this idea since the goat cannot step into the jar, like it could with a bucket. Also, no hair, dirt, grass, or other debris can fall into it, like it could with a bucket. It is a little noisier, but Daisy didn't seem to mind and it saves some fatigue on the hands too.

The amount of milk that we get right now varies since we have not pulled King off of her yet. This week we will be removing him overnight and then milking her in the morning before returning King to her. This will provide us with a better supply. Also, we are just using this milk to feed the bottle babies that we have right now, so it makes it easier for us to raise them.

Check out how happy @mama-pepper was that her experiment worked out! She's a talented lady and a huge blessing to our family. You have no idea how much she accomplishes each day, but I'm sure that some of you can guess!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

I would love to see how this this is put together. We are going to have nine does in milk shortly and my family is looking at machines. They can go for $700+

I'm glad it worked out for you guys.

This post shows the parts and a few how to videos from YouTube: https://steemit.com/life/@papa-pepper/mama-pepper-the-mad-scientist

I hope it helps!

Classy and useful. I am in my secone one quart of goat milk. Taste good but a little pricey.
Thanks for the envy.
Keep on steemin'

Haha...... That was really interesting to see.
She is full of creativity.......you made a right choice, and she soo pretty.
Wonderful family, father a genius, mother a genius =children geniuses.
This really made me happy.
That was an amazing technology

LOL! Thank you kindly my friend!

You are welcomed sir...... You deserve it for always posting quality and innovative contents
I think I will resteem this and show my fellow mates university.
Will really be interesting to one of my professor in school
He values and respect ingenuity and creativity alot

What (was the research that) led to making one yourself, assuming that there are low volume mechanized milkers for goats? Could you tell if it was more/less comfortable to the goat vs hand milking? I was also wondering, as someone else asked below, how much it cost for the one you made?

The goat was fine with it and it worked well. It was less than $30 USD to make. I shared a few video in this post that show how to assemble : https://steemit.com/life/@papa-pepper/mama-pepper-the-mad-scientist

Thanks for the info and the quick reply! I’ll check out those videos.

I just found you and glad I did, great content!

Cheers!

Ps I love pretty much everything about goats

What a nice experiment and it worked out. Kudos

Yeah, we were super happy about the results for sure!

What a great success you accomplished with the experiment. @mama-pepper did a great job with both the research and the assembling. Kudos to her

Yes, she has done really well with this project!

This is a very good innovation. You are very lucky to have a wonderful woman like @mama-pepper by your side. She is everything a man needs. She's indeed a talented lady and a huge blessing to our family

I am way blessed to have this lovely lady by my side!

Interesting innovations, you have created a tool to facilitate goat breeders to take milk. the world thanks you. how much does it cost to make the tool?

Less than $30 USD to purchase the parts and assemble here.

working hard will give amazing results, we should not give up.

Never give up!

very good post friends

Thank you for the comment!

same friends, friends please visit my friend's blog

same as friends, if there is a chance please visit my blog once2 friends

todo un laboratorio científico, @mama-pepper se destacó muy buen trabajo los felicito, y buen vídeo creo que ahora hay que ver como mitigar el ruido.

Sí, ella es mi científica. Veremos sobre ese ruido.

Will there be sheep milk in your future?

Maybe some wool too?

Papa-pepper the giant of home steading on stemit community, been long that we have been expecting your post update on GOAT MILKING MACHINE . thank God here you are. Please greet @mama-pepper (the mad scientist) for her untiring effort on home steading. Long live @papa-pepper

This is a great research from you. You are a beacon of hope to we your followers. Your post on home steading has encouraged me and boost my love for animals. Just that my environment does not parmit me to practice. You are really doing a great job. Much love for you my @papa-pepper

The animals and plants all around us are amazing, and homesteading gives me the opportunity to interact with them every day.

Wow sit outside said it and you did it.

Excellent cooperation skills.
Love it.

Thanks @lizbethk!

good experiment I like, your post is very useful, and maybe this can be tried by all goat breeders, thank you for sharing

Behind successful @papa-pepper there is a @mama-pepper

She's a talented lady and a huge blessing to our family. You have no idea how much she accomplishes each day

I see that the homemade milking machine work, kudos.

Yeah, I would not be able to accomplish much without her.

Steemit is really a great place to learn and get exposed. I never know it's possible to milk goat, I only know of cows. I was wondering if the milk was for consumption but felt huge relief when you stated it's for the younger ones. Good initiative @mama- pepper, necessity is the mother of inventions. Kindly ensure you obtained patent for this discovery 😁😁😁. Thanks for sharing.

@mama-pepper is going macgyver on that milk!! I usually milk cows with a machine, nice to see you can build one at home, BTW you thinking of having some cows or you don't have enough space at your place?

Yeah, I'll tell her that she reminded you of MacGyver! We do have one cow so far, a little Dexter Heifer that we plan on breeding this summer.

Dexter Heifer, those are the small cows right?? I'm used to milking Holstein Friesian, what are you growing that cow for? milk or meat production?

Love it! So creative! DIY invention ideas are so fun to come up with, but actually putting them together can often be more work than anticipated. Congrats on going all the way with it! I am so impressed :)
@bitsy

Yeah, it was an excellent project!

A smart mom,,, always gv the best for her family,, you are a lucky papa,,, this amazing,,, brilliant findings,,, sorry i am forced to resteem this,,, thanks before,,, papa,,,

This is definitely a genius idea @mama-pepper! I think it would make an interesting project on @steemmakers to share with other people who might just also have some goats that they need to milk :D

WoooW really cool video I've never had the opportunity to milk anything or see a milker work but it was definitely interesting! looking forward to more of your content!!

Hand milking can be a relaxing joy too, so if you ever get the chance, I'd recommend trying it!

That's genius!

That is so cool, and it worked too.. Good job @mama-pepper. She sounds pretty handy to have around..lol It's always good to have a resourceful partner. I would imagine where you live, that might become useful. Again, interesting post @papa-pepper

She is amazing to have around, and we are all better for it!

fantastic & enjoying!

Thanks!

it's a practical way I've never tried it, nice invention

It is really practical! We will see how it works moving forward! Thanks!

charming & encouraging!

wonderful & breathtaking!

this is great @papa-pepper,
everything went smoothly,
in this way now can simplify your work,
and the children have started to learn from all this.
congratulations for you my friend.

The women are very smart to say it @mama-pepper and together with @papa-pepper they make a good combination, I love to see the face of all happy, what a good adventure they are living with that new member.

When I had my herd of dairy goats I used the milk to raise calves.
Bottle babies...it worked.
Never thought of a milking machine though.. I did it by hand.
and yup...sometimes they kicked the bucket.

We do need just 2 goats... Actually I just need 1, but I don't want it to be lonely. We have 6,000 sq metres and it's just getting too much to maintain so plenty of food for a goat or 2. But don't know if I have the skills for raising baby goats, cute as they are! Love the ingenuity though, well done...

Does it hurt the animal? if so, BAD!

I had tried hand milking carabaos or water buffalos before.. its hard

Haha - one of the best blog post titles I have seen on Steemit. Looks like you nailed it.

goat squeezer, with a very easy squeeze, no need to wear a hand, thank you for sharing a friend.

Yup, the machine can do it for us!

Have a look on Uncle Google, the cow milking machines had a pulsator in the system to try and duplicate a calf sucking, it was also for the cows health, a constant vacuum/suck on the teats produced some unwanted health problems.
I know you have goats and soon sheep, but a teat is a teat, you may be harming the udder the way you are going.
Otherwise, well-done Mama-Pepper, a fine machine have invented.

excelente @mama-pepper todo esfuerzo tiene su recompensa y cada vez aprendemos de ellas.

ohhh... How nice! That was great!! Yeah... I will do that also... Compilation of my video! (^_^)

First, i'd say she's incredibly gorgeous. Seeing her, you can tell she is a brainy. Perfecto! Well done Papa...one down, many more to come.

Ah yes! Kudos to mama P. It’s rare for any design to work the first time. Thanks for the video. She should try rocket science next. Hehe

That's awesome ! My dad and his girlfriends goat just had two baby goats! She was a first time mom and she dropped the first one in a hay bail and had the second one somewhere else. So the Momma didn't want the first baby cause it didn't smell like her anymore and she wouldn't feed it at first. But they took the Momma and baby and pet them at the same time and put the Momma's milk on the babies face and I guess she did end up taking her baby back in. Goats are interesting animals lol

This invent seems to be useful in our farm:-)

Necessity is the mother of invention!

Wonderful innovation!

nice invention ,technology is always awesome

Awesome glad it worked! Drink up!

Awesome job, @mama-pepper! No more hair and dirt in the milk! Necessity is the mother of invention and mamas make really good inventors!

Wow!! This is creativity at its best.

P.S: Can this machine be used to milk other animals? :)

Nice post thanks

We had a very similar approach, but with a brake line bleeder that we would squeeze by hand. Took a little muscle, but it was so nice not worrying about debris getting into the milk, or as you mentioned, the occasional hoof! Is Mama-Pepper carrying a little Pepper on her back?

I was often milking with a baby in tow and those back carriers are awesome! The kids would come over and give me and my baby nuzzles!

That is an awesome DIY, great work!

elated & encouraging!
