Pepper & Broadbean Update With Some Planter Preparation - The Container Garden With PumpkinsandCats

in homesteading •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey Steemians and Homesteaders!

Apologies its been a few days since my last update on the Garden.

I've been busy with the SteemitWales meet up, a local Plastic Free Town Meeting, Green Party and just life in general!

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank @Goldendawne she has been a real help recently. Not only did she choose me as her HOLLER OUT homesteader which I sadly didn't notice until a week later. But she also solved the problem of missing posts by introducing me to @Ginabot and also showed me how to use the Homesteaders Logo on here.

So yeah massive thank you @Goldendawne truly appreciated!

Debut on @msp-waves Radio Friday

On Friday I will hopefully all going well be on @Pennsif Alternative Lifestyle Show talking about the Garden and the Steemit Meetup. Really looking forward to it!

Anyway onto the Garden.

Broadbeans

The broadbeans have developed quite a lot since my last post and are ready for planting!

As you can see I have one very long one probably reaching for light and stretched - the rest are good.

With the weather being so cold and wintery in Wales I hadn't had chance to sort out my planters from last year which has caused a bit of a delay. With the garden being so open the wind and storms can cause such damage to young and established plants.

Also my cats have used them as a litter tray over winter and to be honest I was putting the job off for as long as possible!

I have emptied the old planters, and used the last of my compost and semi filled the planter. I need to transport a lot of soil through the house from the back garden to the front in a bucket which will take time and needs daylight. So my broadbeans may have to live as they are till the weekend and I hope they will be ok.....

Peppers

Slow going with the peppers, not sure if this is normal as this is the first time i've grown them.

The Sweet Aji is off to a great start. I pulled the seed off the leafs before taking the photo. This one is 100% doing well.

Nothing has happened with the Rotoco Pepper yet, I hope I haven't lost the seed when I knocked it over a few days ago. I did check each drop of soil so I hope not.

The Orange Bell is doing something but not much. We have had a cold snap so I have moved them back on top of the boiler in the hope of warming them up a bit.

Oh man this is great stuff @pumpkinsandcats! I am going to show this to my wife and I know we'll be following these little green growers closely. We really want to start a little garden, so its great to see somebody starting some veggies from scratch. Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Thank you so much! I will be planting other seeds too. Your wife is welcome to see my garden plan for this year and if she needs any advice happy to help = D

Awesome!! I will pass the word along. Thanks @pumpkinsandcats!!

Looking forward to you coming on the Alternative Lifestyle Show on Friday.

Wahooo!
