Green mussels are one of the most successful fisheries resources. In addition, the cultivation of green shellfish is easy, because the green shell is able to survive and breed at high environmental pressures and without feeding. Shellfish with Latin name Perna viridis is living in estuary-mangrove waters and bay areas with muddy sand substrate and medium salt. Green Shell Reproduction

Green shells belong to the classification of ovipora animals that have sperm cells and eggs are numerous and microscopic. How to breed the green shell is the outer fertilization, which is to remove sperm cells and eggs in the water and let it mix. The mixing will produce fertilization. In just 24 hours, the eggs will hatch and become larvae. The larvae will grow to spat until the age of 15-20 days. After that, they will grow into adult green shells at the age of 5-6 months.

Because the number of green shellfish population in Indonesia makes many people want to open a business of shellfish cultivation. Shellfish cultivation technique is quite easy. Cultivators simply provide a sufficient location protected from high currents and do not have high salinity content. The location should also have a muddy and sandy bottom of the water. This is to facilitate easy green shellfish to get the nutrients and nutrients needed during the breed.

Make sure the selected location is free of toxic waste such as copper, zinc, mercury, cadmium, tin hiam and others. Avoid also the location adjacent to the river to avoid household waste like detergent and bath soap. The waste can trigger the emergence of various bacteria such as Echericia coli, Salmonella and Shigella that can be harmful to humans who consume green shellfish. A good location is a location that has temperatures ranging from 27-37 degrees Celsius and pH levels in the numbers 6-8.

In collecting the spat of green shells can be done by entering the collector straps. For collector straps can be made from a variety of simple materials such as coconut fibers, fibers and polyethylene splints. Put the collector's straps on the waters that have many green shell seeds. The beni will move and attach to the collector rope naturally. After that, the collector rope can be moved to the cultivation container. In the absence of green shell seeds around the cultivation site, seed transplants can be carried out from other areas.
