I went out and picked a few more blackberries, today. I didn't realize how many plants we had! They grow almost around the entire perimeter of the pasture, and there are a few additional clusters here and there. We haven't picked all that many, yet; but there are still a ton of berries in different stages of ripeness.

There are even quite a few flowers that may end up producing more berries later on!

I think it's going to be a good season for the blackberries! If I can keep the kids out of them, I would like to freeze as many as I can throughout the summer and make a whole bunch of jelly and preserves for the winter. We tried a small batch last year. It tasted yummy, but the consistency ended up more like a syrup. Hopefully, we can improve on that, this year!

WISH US LUCK!

Or better yet, give us a few pointers.

Oooeee love blackberries, strawberries, all berries.. They are excruciatingly expensive in Mauritius but we've found a frozen brand that tastes nice and we can keep on hand in the freezer.

They're pretty expensive at the grocery stores here, too. These were a pleasant surprise when we bought our property, so I'm trying to take full advantage of them.
