Ok so we all heard last year in 2017 that they were going to be making a sequel to Halloween. In 2018 they confirmed and in the summer of 2018 they dropped a kick ass trailer on us excited and thrilled but it left us asking many questions, I am super excited for this movie to come out. What makes me excited is that we know the original cast Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and Nick Castle as Michael Myers will be in this sequel. We all know that when new people take on the roles of the final girl or psycho killer they bring a different look to the character and feel, knowing that we have 2 of the original actors on the set should put many of us as ease, to me Jamie Lee Curtis is the ultimate Scream Queen!
There are a few reasons why I am super excited for this movie, and the biggest one is John Carpenters’ involvement as he is one of the co-creators of the original Halloween movie. Having someone who has co-created the original to work on the sequel is great and it really makes my hopes high. Now as a fan of this franchise and how the story plays out through the years many fans including myself will be questioning some of the story.
This is a direct sequel to the original Halloween movie that came out in 1978 it is set 40 years later on Halloween night where Michael and Lori go toe to toe in the final battle! Do you really think this will be the final battle between these 2? With 10 movies in the franchise Halloween 2018 will make the 11th film in the franchise which makes them tied with the Friday the 13th Franchise.
Now the trailer left us a little confused as the writer’s completely threw the lore out the window where Michael and Laurie are related. In the trailer the granddaughter of Laurie is told that they heard Michael was Laurie’s brother and she states that, that is only a rumor. Now we will see how fans feel about that as well! We know as horror fans that horror movies are NEVER great with their lore or keeping the stories together. I mean look at Friday the 13th franchise.
So when is this awesome movie released? Well if you are lucky enough to be at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2018 you will get to see it during their Midnight Madness section. If you are not that lucky the movie will be released in theaters on October 19, 2018, and you use YouTube to watch or rent movies you will be happy to hear that this will be hitting YouTube on October 10, 2018. If you are interested in more Michael and Laurie strode there is a documentary called The Shape Lives: 40 Years of Halloween which is an independent documentary.
I am excited to hear what you all think about the movie once it is released. I am also curious on what your thoughts are right meow.
