Hot Tub Filters- Everything You Need to Know.jpg

Every hot tub has a filter to clean the water because even if the water in the tub looks clear, it always contains some contaminants such as body oil, dirt, lotions etc. Hot tub filters make sure that the water in your tub is clean and ensure the tub's long life. Filters work in the background that traps dirt particles when water runs through the filter media. It acts as a primary defence for the dirty water in the tub. The filters work in a simple manner, the water passes through, and the filter traps all the unwanted particles. Most hot tubs filters these days are designed in a way that you can replace, remove, or clean easily.

The particles that get trapped in the filter remain there until you remove them. That is why your role to clean the filter majorly affects the life of the filter. If you ignore regular filter maintenance or replacement, it could damage your hot tub parts and heating system. It will also cause dirt and other particles to build up. You need to ensure that the water in your tub is clean, clear and has a minimum of chemicals. Your goal should be to have the best water quality for your family. The hot tub filter helps you reach that goal. You must replace the filters after every 2-3 or 5 years. If your filter is old and dirty, it may not be of any use.

How to analyze whether you need a hot filter or not. Replace it if:

The spa filter of your hot tub is grey, brown or green, or even if it stays yellow after cleaning.
The tub's pleated part or the filtering element becomes flat and does not have its fibrous sheen anymore.
The bottom or top part of your hot tub filter has a crack or split.
Any of the hot tub parts start to come apart or shred.

How to clean hot tub filter parts?

Clean filters from every corner at least after every 4-5 weeks depending on the number of people using it.

You should always clean the tub every time you drain & refill the hot tub. It ensures the best water quality. You also get the cleaning instructions from the manufacturer; you can follow them. First, use a nozzle to hose the filters off with high pressure. Second, use a cleaning spray for the spa filter. You can get this spray at a store that has the hot tub for sale. Using only cold water will not help. It would be best if you had a cleaner that will melt all the dirt, body oil or suntan lotion etc.

Use Scumbags in your hot tub

Using scumbags can help because they soak all the oils that clog filters. You can replace it every three months or when it is saturated. Using hot tub test strips can also help to test the water quality of water.
