I had so many questions when I started writing on www.steemit.com.
So I decided to go and find the answers for myself and blog them.
Please correct me if I am wrong and please feel free to add detail or provide updated information.
I hope this list helps and motivates you to STEEMIT.

Only made it through a few points and have a question - When you say "Suggest up-vote on your own post after 30minutes and before 24 hours" do you mean after 30 minutes of putting your post live? Super newbie and will use this guide to get my account rockin. Thank you so much for posting this!

Hi, yes it is best to leave your own upvote if you want to encourage others to initially curate your post. This allows others to benefit from the post via the algorithm that defines curation. The Steemit algorithms have been update since I did this post however the overall principle still applies. It is up to you who you want to run your page. I curate my posts just inside 30 minutes.
Checkout Steemvoter.com if you want to set this curation up automatically. Allows 10 auto votes per day.

Thanks again for putting this together even though I have yet to read the entire thing... however I have a question. One of my steemit posts is out ranking a blog post I wrote on my actual website, to the point that my website post basically does not exist in google rankings. The word on the street is that I cannot delete my steemit post... so then why should we be putting up posts from our websites if they are going to out rank them in the long run? Very disappointed about this.

P.S.: Why should I "avoid falling below 70-80% VP"?

This will affect your curation returns. The lower the VP, the lower the curation return in simple terms. It is best to maintain a higher VP% and choose more diligently who you vote for and when.

Hi Sebastian, I think it is such a shame I cannot resteem this post, its such valuable information. Am I at least able to copy the link to this post into a post for new steemians that I meet? I have left you a message on your youtube video. I probably have no chance in hell, but I was hoping to talk to you about a pretty important social issues that I need to write about. I think I need to talk to you anyway, if you don't ask, you are definitely not in with a chance... so i am asking!! Not sure I should put my email here, but if you could answer me here with an email to contact you or something I would be really appreciative. I think you will be interested. @steemsausage your fellow Australian steemian, cheers mate @steemsausage

Just gave it a quick read and the two corrections I might offer up are that you have the old SP power down rate listed (104 weeks) which is now 13 weeks.
I also think it's unclear where you talk about influence score. It's more commonly referred to as reputation and is not calculated at all based on Steem Power, therefore it doesn't denote influence in the way you've described it earlier in the FAQ.
Great effort though, I hope it gets refined and grows. (After the next update, posts should be editable with no time restriction.)

Thank you for the feedback. I will update it. How is influence calculated exactly?
Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:
Submit
Well your "what is influence" section is correct. What you're referring to as the influence score is usually called reputation. It is an accumulated score based on your upvotes minus your downvotes (flags). But a person who invests money and only curates would have influence (more SP they bought) but stay at the starting 25 Reputation. Likewise powering down SP would drop your influence but not Reputation.
If you wanted to add in the effects of Reputation, it currently just related to post visibility on Steemit.com and as a badge of honor of activity and goodwill in the community. If a person has a negative reputation their content will be greyed out and given less visual attention, although it is not censored.
The difficulty of moving up reputation levels scales up greatly. Everyone starts at 25 and can be at 45 in no time. The higher rep scores take a lot to reach.

The order of promotion will be based on the total amount of the promotion value you set. The higher the promotion value, the higher up the list you will go. Sometimes it takes a little while to show your post in the feed. You can find how much others are spending (promotion value) by pressing the down arrow on the individual post payout section.
