Are you ready? It is so easy to make your own applesauce. I never add any sugar to my apples as I prefer their natural state. That is the wonderful part about canning your own food, you can do whatever suits your personal fancy. Enjoy my little photo tutorial and please.... be sure to try your own variations.
In this batch I did not cook the apples down all the way. I left some of them chunky and added enough Cinnamon to flavor the applesauce. My husband loves the chunky variety, especially when I add the Cinnamon.
You can also cook different fruits with the apples too. I have used cherries, raspberries and plums as variations to mine. I used some red plums to add to the last batch I made which makes a great sauce when you are having a pork dish. It is also great to place on your meat as it is roasting to give it a little bit of a glaze. Tasty! Thank you for stopping by my post, I hope you enjoyed seeing how I preserve applesauce for my family to enjoy all winter long.
Until next time, this is Sunscape...
That's some good eating all through the winter there! :D You are in some good apple country, too!
