People have been sharing information since the beginning of time.
- Men folk taught boys how to hunt and fish, by taking them hunting and fishing.
- Women folk taught girls how to cook by having the girls help them cook.
- All were taught what plants were good for eating,
which ones were good medicine and
which ones were poison.
- All were taught what plants were good for eating,
- Women folk taught girls how to cook by having the girls help them cook.
- People learned by doing.
- People learned by helping others do the exact thing they wanted to learn.
- People can also learn by reading about How-To do something...
- People learned by helping others do the exact thing they wanted to learn.
The world became a bit more complicated and sometimes people would take notes as they learned things.
- Those notes would help them remember how to do things.
- They could also be passed along to others who wanted to learn how to do something.
- If the notes were expanded with enough details and maybe some pictures, someone could actually learn to do something simply by reading the notes.
- They could also be passed along to others who wanted to learn how to do something.
Back around 1439, Gutenberg rocked the world with his invention of the printing press.
- This meant information could be collected and books created to be mass produced, so anyone, anywhere could learn anything.
- Newspapers could share local news and even allow people to learn what was going on anywhere in the world.
- Magazines could collect information about a certain topic to be passed along to those interested in that topic.
- Newspapers could share local news and even allow people to learn what was going on anywhere in the world.
Fast forward about 550 years...
The world was rocked once again when @WizarDave(1) invented the Internet.
- The Internet is a network of interconnected people and information.
OK OK OK I didn't really invent the Internet,
but back around '95 I did discover it.
I recognized right away it would do 2 things:
- Connect People to People
- Connect People to Information
I also knew everyone is an expert at something.
If you've done something
and someone else hasn't done that something,
guess what?
You are the expert!
- I thought, wouldn't it be great if people started sharing their common sense?
- They must have read my mind because they did exactly that!
- And thus,
@WizarDavethe Internet gave birth to the Information Age...
- And thus,
- They must have read my mind because they did exactly that!
- Someone would take the time to put their notes about something on the Internet.
- Someone else, from anywhere on earth (and who knows, some intelligent beings from space may be connected to our Internet and reading our information...), could read those notes and learn how to do something.
- How great is that?!?!
- Someone else, from anywhere on earth (and who knows, some intelligent beings from space may be connected to our Internet and reading our information...), could read those notes and learn how to do something.
- You no longer had to spend your hard earned cash to purchase information.
You could simply search for it on the Information Highway.
Fast forward a couple of decades and Steemit was born.
- Steemit is a unique social networking platform where people are encouraged to share information and connect with other people.
- People all over the world are sharing their life, their ideas, their common sense, their understanding of the world as it is and their vision of how it can be.
- Some of the information is put together as How-To posts.
All of these are good, some are GREAT!

Pictures
You could take lots of pictures.
One of each step.
- That would be good.

- You could explain exactly what you are doing with each step.
Give step by step instructions
All that would fine and dandy, and the basis for a good almost GREAT How-To post.
- What if you added a bit more info to ~~~Abracadabra~~~ turn it into an all around GREAT post?
- What if you ASSumed the person reading your post had absolutely no idea what you are talking about?
- Could you maybe add some detail to help them out?
- Could you maybe add a few key word definitions
and explain some of the tricky phrases?
- What if you included a list of things you need to do this project?
- What if you added a bit of history?
- What if you added some links to web pages you used to research your post?
- What if you added a video?
- What if you mentioned alternative ways of doing what you did?
- What if you mentioned the 10 or 20 ways you tried before that didn't work?
