Honestly can't believe the teen HPV vaccination rate is as low as it is for such an amazing vaccine. State variation is crazy too. Mississippi's rate is only 33% while Rhode Island where it is mandated is at 83%! The vaccine is as close to a cure for cancer as we have.
Also if you are over 26 and haven't gotten the vaccine, it is approved up to age 45. The population benefit isn't expected to be significant for those over 26 due to the probability of exposure to the cancer-causing strains being high for sexually active adults over 26. But the individual benefit may be different. Generally most insurance doesn't cover it beyond that age, so you'd likely have to pay out of pocket for it. However surprisingly a lot of state Medicaid programs cover it for older adults.
