Verizon has "dropped all plans" to sell Huawei's phones, including the new Mate 10 Pro. Earlier AT&T has also made a similar decision. This decision seems to be a pressure from the Government which can also slow down 5G network efforts quite a bit as more Chinese devices are pulled from carrier line-ups over time.
It is still early to say which branch of the Government is involved in this matter but the Trump administration's focus on security is nothing new. Cell phone use has recently been banned in the White House's West Wing among staff. It seems low-level administration officials have raised concerns regarding the possibility of Chinese phone call monitoring.
This can also be a move to tackle Huawei's US-based revenue efforts. Huawei was being claimed as the first phone company to release a 5G phone along with phone carriers like Verizon and AT&T to bring lightning-fast 5G networks to their users. Regardless of what the actual matter is, but dropping plans to sell Huawei's phones could prove to be a controversial move in the eyes of Verizon and Huawei's shared customers.
