Cold War human rights
Since 1990, several countries have ratified six major human rights conventions and conventions. More than 170 countries have participated in the 1993 World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna, where they reaffirmed their commitment to the protection of human rights.
Since then, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has been established.
Non-governmental organizations played a key role in disseminating human rights ideas in the 1990s. The International Committee of the Red Cross Medicines, Sans Frontiere and Oxfam operate directly on the battlefield.
