Pakistan's prominent human rights activist and senior lawyer Asma Jahangir has died. He left the last breath in a hospital in Lahore today. At the time of his death, he was 66 years old. In his personal life he left a son and two daughters. He was transferred to the hospital when he was suffering from heart disease and died there.
He has contributed immensely to protect human rights. In this work, he had to walk through the extreme adversity. Asma Jahangir will be unreliable in contributing to the establishment of democratic and inclusive Pakistan.
Asma Jahangir was born in 1952. After receiving his graduation from Canard College, he received an LLB degree from Punjab University. In 1980, he started the Lahore High Court and as a lawyer in the Supreme Court in 1982. Then for the first time as a woman, Pakistan was elected president of Supreme Court Bar.
At the time of General Ziaul Huq, he joined the first democratic movement in 1983. In 2007, he was released during the protest against General Pervez Musharraf. Asma Jahangir, one of the founders of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission His initiative was 'Women Action Forum'. Asma Jahangir received many awards in her illustrious career. Among them, in 2010, Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Sirat-e-Imtiaz were one of them. He also received the UNESCO award from France for his contribution to human rights. In 2010 he won the Independence Award.
The death of eminent human rights activist Asma Jahangir has been expressed in various quarters. Including Chief Minister of Punjab and senior leader of ruling Muslim League Shahbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz.
