Human beings are islands scattered in an ocean, separated by a wave that one cannot wade towards the other

The beautiful writer Ahmed Bahjat, may God have mercy on him, tells that human beings are scattered islands in an ocean, separated by a wave that one cannot go through towards the other, and human communication through language or other becomes a form of waving hands and jumping in place, from one person on one island to another on another island, in order to understand it.

But sometimes one encounters stories about simple human experiences that are very subjective, and he did not think that they would happen to others, such as the imaginary race that one creates between him and those walking around him, that he wins if this man precedes before crossing this tree, or the heated verbal altercations that It erupts in his mind under the shower, in which one is a brave, articulate person who knows how to silence and defeat his enemies, contrary to reality, or how to find himself well-groomed and handsome in the mirror of his room, scattering shabby shape in every other mirror, or how to put the volume indicator on whole closed numbers such as 10 15 and 20, and those who accept numbers like 13 and 27 are considered unscrupulous bastards who can never be trusted.

It is true that the distance between two souls cannot be completely crossed, but such experiences tell at least that we are alike on the inside, alike in wisdom and folly, which makes us less alone, even if each one remains on his own island.
