devil machine (11 jun 2019) by rfy.jpg

So today, I woke up too hot, too early, but decided to hit the keyboard and work on some STUFF that I’ve been meaning to look at but hadn’t…yet… Unfortunately, my old enemy, the DEVIL MACHINE, has motives and intentions of its own that don’t always mesh with my desires.

I was able to get the Snax thing done (I’d been planning to look at that for a while now), and I was sort of able to get Keychain set up (although it’s pissing me off---the stupid thing keeps saying that my HOME internet is a “public wifi” so it won’t let me do some shit that I want it to do), and I completely failed at the PAL airdrop thing---and now I’m thinking I should just give up on computer stuff for a while, so that I don’t smash the screen all to pieces. (I wonder if the computer is a masochist and it just WANTS me to beat on it. I might be anthropomorphizing a bit…)

In other news, I wrote a heartfelt and teary-eyed goodbye to The Primitive Entertainment Workshop today, which is the site where I (and a couple dozen co-conspirators) have posted my (our) stories and art and poems and other junk for the last six-and-a-half years. I loved that site, but it's just too much work keeping up with multiple platforms, and that one is at 99% capacity for the memory allotment, and it doesn’t really lead to any kind of economic benefit at all… So, I wrote a GOODBYE LETTER to the site. (You can read it if you want. I mention Steem quite a lot…)

the end times (11 jun. 2019) by rfy.jpg

And that’s what I’ve been up to for the last several hours, wiping tears off my cheeks and battling (and mostly losing) with the online crypto-world. I’m thinking this stuff is going to have to get a LOT easier for normal humans to want to bother with it. I’m not very tech-savvy, but I’m MOTIVATED. I cuss and sweat and fight to try and get this stuff to work---others, for whom technologies like these are more intuitive, might have an easier time---and most of the time I figure stuff out. BUT NOT ALWAYS. I still can’t figure out how to use Metamask, and I went ahead and got a Coinbase account instead. Coinbase is fairly easy to set up, but I did have to call my credit union and explain to them that the site wasn’t trying to scam me before they would let me link the app to my account. (I HOPE they aren’t trying to scam me...) Still, this is all going to have to get a lot easier before folks are going to jump onto the crypto-train.

I’m trying to figure out how to get my WIFE onto Steemit, but she’s even less tech-savvy than I am (and that’s saying a lot), so I don’t know if she’d be able to deal with keys and all that bunk. She likes Instagram and Pinterest, so I thought she might enjoy scrolling through Steemit (maybe with Partiko?? or some other app she can use on her phone) and reading about gardening and people’s recipes and looking at the photos that folks share---but I’m not sure what the best way to set her up would be. It’s got to be smooth and easy or she won’t use it! (That’s why I’m thinking @partiko would be good…) I can send her some SBD to get her some resource credits, but getting her started---that’s where I’m stuck. And that’s the problem.

For “mass adoption” to even START to happen, it’s got to be easy enough for someone like ME or my wife to do it! I’m on here, so that’s a start, but now we need to figure out how to get someone like HER to be able to use the place!

Any thoughts???

Okay---I’m off to do some chores then get ready for work! Thanks for stopping by!!!!
