Introduction
Unless we choose to go hairy, most of us — men especially — can't escape shaving as a necessary evil. When you look at your budget for the year, you may be spending way too much money on this item...in fact when I looked at it, I almost fell off my chair. In this article I am going to share some awesome tips to save big on shave without going for dollarshaveclub.com. Enjoy!
As ad man and I have to say that Dollar Shave Club hit a home run with this ad. It's a service that delivers fresh razors to your doorstep, monthly, for a fraction of the cost of the grocery-store equivalent.
I have many friends who use them. It does offer a good service that does make men save some money on shaving blades. But I just found something even better and I had to stop and share this awesome tip with you.
I don't know for you but when I make my budget, I use to allocate $20/month on cartridges for a whooping $240 per year...and I don't even go for the high-end. (My blades last about 10 days in average)
Now, if I were to use dollar shaving club with their "executive" auto-ship, it would be $9.50/month. Awesome! That cuts it in half and I even get a better shave out of those. So with DollarShaveClub, I would be spending apprx $114/yr.
But you know what's even better?
Going to their suppliers online.
Looks like Dollar Shave Club come from an online store called Dorco, and guess what: Buying directly from Dorco, you get the same great razors for about a half of the cost of Dollar Shave Club.
That's what Ben Popken from marketwatch.com discovered when he dug into Dollar Shave Club. The main catch: You have to buy in bulk rather than receive your monthly supply.
So if you buy Pace 6 Combo Set with 10 cartridges + the Pace 6 Cartridges (6 Pack) of 24 cartridges. You get a year supply for $69.85 and free shipping.

Here Are 3 Cool Tips to Make Your Blades Last Even Longer
Try out these tips if you want to make your blades last even longer than 10 days.
1. Dry and Clean Them After Each Use
Water and left over hair in the blades will make the blade rust. So drying and cleaning your razor after use will help in preserving the integrity of the blade.
2. Soak Your Blade in Oil
After the shave, simply clean your razor, dry it up and then leave in a little cup filled with oil. This will prevent the blades to come in contact with air and therefore make your blades last longer.
3. Before Each Shave - Give it a Quick Buff
Push the razor along a denim surface such as blue jeans for 10 or 20 strokes in the reverse direction that you shave. The cross-fibers of the jeans do a bang-up job of both drying and sharpening the blades, keeping them pristine. (You can also use your forearm if you don't have a piece of jeans laying around.)
Conclusion
Were you ever amazed about on long your grandparent could make things last forever? They would straighten nails to be reused later for example. There is a part of me that find this type of "industriousness" appealing and commendable.
I believe that one thing we can all learn to do better is to make the best out of the resources we have at any given moments. It's easy to fall in the trap of consumerism and spend without a second thought about how to make the best out of every dollar. Now, I've just share a cool tip to save big time on shave and to make them each cartridge even longer.
Do you have one tip that you would like to share with everybody in the comment box below? Please feel free to do so!

Hmm, I like this idea, but with a decentralized future I like all ideas that eliminate middle-men. :P
