Hyundai HDC-6 Neptune tractors were introduced by Hyundai Motor, heralding a promising future of hydrogen fuel cell commercial trucks.
Huyndai said the Class 8 tractor, combined with clean energy-cooled trailer containers, adds details to prepare for the widespread deployment of hydrogen fuel cell technology.
Hyundai Neptune HDC-6 , is a development of a Class 8 truck into a sleek, high-tech cargo vehicle with a modern design.
Although a product designed for the future, Hyundai said the product bears a sense of the past in design, especially in the 1930s with sophisticated designs and Art Deco.
Vehicle Overview Hyundai Neptune HDC-6
The Hyundai Neptune vehicle provides an operating range in a refueling of about 249 miles (400 km) with a fully loaded trailer. It carries seven large hydrogen tanks with a storage capacity of nearly 77 lbs. (35 kg) hydrogen.
Total combined vehicle weight is 34 tons (30,844 kg). Production is underway and the first trucks will be handed over to customers by early 2020.
The first is that refueling time is obviously much faster for vehicles using hydrogen fuel cells than conventional batteries - so 15 minutes is an acceptable time for that.
Fifteen tons of battery is simply unacceptable, Battery is of absolute significance for low weight and short driving distance, but fuel cell is very important for heavy, long-distance commercial vehicles.
The driver gets into the Hyundai HDC-6 through a sliding door, the cabin of which uses the screen to show what is outside through the driver's surveillance camera instead of the rearview mirror. Small living space including kitchen, shower, toilet and sleeping area for two.
