Making the first day of school a comfortable experience for your child

There isn’t a single child in the world who hated going to school during initial years. But as for everything else your kids look up to you whenever there is any kind of problem in school. As parents it's your duty to ensure that that the kid is prepared to enter any uncharted territory.

So what is it that you can do to ensure that your kid is ready for his/her first day of school read on to know the various things you can do in advance:

Make your kid aware of what awaits

Its human psychology to be scared of the unknown. Thus familiarising the child with the environment of the school is very important. The first step that you can take is making the child visit the school where his term will start. This way the child along with the parents will be aware of the many aspects about the school including its location, look, and layout of the place. So this way when your child will finally arrive on the first day of the school she won't feel disconnected with the playground, classroom, lunch area or any other part of the school. While we are at the point of familiarising, making your kid know the teacher can also helpful. You can also look up in the handbooks of ICSE chools in Delhi and NCR.

Set up a good example in front of them

Instead of being scared of the school you can do a lot of things to make your child feel excited about it. This can start with you sharing and telling about your wonderful memories in school. You can start by sharing your photos in the various competitions you won. You can also call in your child's cousins and friends from the colony to come and share their experiences that they are having currently in school. This will make your kids get excited about what’s to come and look forward to going to school.

Do school shopping with them

One of the most fun things about going to school is buying school stationery. Teachers of IB schools in Delhi and NCR also help them out to do the shopping. The kid will get to choose the colours, pencils, erasers and take them to school. He will also get a sense of belongingness.
