The remote district on Iceland‘s Strandir coast, Árneshreppur, is home to barely 40 souls. A solitary dirt track serves as the lifeline connecting this isolated outpost to the outside world, and it is often impassable in the winter.
You could wander for days here without catching sight of another human. To the unacquainted visitor the area may evoke the feel of an abandoned movie set. To the discerning, the scenery and seclusion are especially conducive to awaken the inner yogi.
These portraits of the locals were taken over several visits spanning almost a decade.
