A Manipulator is not easily defined, but by their overall behavior it is an individual who deliberately and secretly tries to influence the action of other individuals to their own benefit. A manipulator may lie their way through just about any conversation they have with you believing they are telling the truth. They will use their status or authority over you to their advantage. A manipulator will believe that they can get away with any kind of deception because they do not realize they are doing anything illegal or unethical. While many individuals may not realize that they are being manipulated, others may see through your cover and catch on that something isn't right.

How to Identify a Manipulator There are certain actions that a manipulator will do that will let you know whether they are using manipulative tactics or not. If they ever attempt to establish any form of connection with you or a group of individuals, then they are lying to you and acting in an unprofessional manner. One way to know how to recognize a manipulator is if they repeatedly ask you questions that have no bearing to what they are saying.

If they are purposely trying to create confusion and doubt in your mind then they are doing that to distract you and keep you from focusing on what they are saying. Another way to know if they are manipulating you is if they start to change the subject or ask you different questions to see if you will give them a different answer. If they keep on asking you questions and you don't give them the same answer then they are using this tactic to see if you will change your answer to something that they want you to say. If you continually feel like the person you are talking to is trying to influence you in a negative way then they are using the technique of misdirection.

How to Tell if Someone is a Manipulator If you have noticed that someone is constantly getting your attention then they are most likely using this strategy to manipulate you. Someone who is good at getting people's attention will always find ways to get themselves into a conversation. They will use words, body language and even their demeanor to make you pay attention. If you have noticed this happening in someone you know then it is a sign of a manipulative person. Don't be afraid to confront this person because standing up to someone who tries to manipulate you, is one of the best ways to get what you want.

How to Identify a Manipulator - The sneaky ones will use tricks such as pointing out in a subtle way that you made a mistake while your statements are true. This kind of psychological trickery is quite hard to spot but the minute you realize that they are trying to manipulate you the truth will dawn on you. You need to be extremely sensitive to this type of behavior. You have to realize that the manipulator is trying to manipulate you and that is not okay.

How to Spot Manipulators - Here is a simple tip that you can use right away. Go to an interview and ask the employer how they feel about certain issues. Pay close attention to what he or she says and then ask them question. It is very important that you ask these questions clearly and in a non-defensive manner. If you are defensive then you will most likely give the answers that you want to hear and that will not help you land the job.

How to Identify a Manipulator - There are many signs that a manipulator will use. They could include asking you questions to see if you know the facts, using specific words and phrases to make you agree with them and even to make you think that you agree. Some people will also try to get you to agree with them before you have all of the facts. One way to see if this is happening to you is to ask people who have been manipulated the same questions and then compare the answers to what you are giving.

If the person you are talking to does not seem to be able to answer your questions, there is a good chance that you are being manipulated by that person. The worst thing that can happen is that you will learn the truth about that person and you will know for yourself how to identify a manipulator and learn how to get out of the situation. If you are already dealing with someone who is manipulating you then you need to take action now. There is no going back, so do it now.
