Page 20: Question put to Mr Mulready-Jones, lead inspector for children in detention for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons.

Next paragraph, please, on the same page, you go on to discuss, 117, supervision in Medway: "There is no expectation that unit staff and managers will engage in a supervisory relationship. One sentence later: "It is difficult to see how custodial officers will be helped to continually improve their performance and maintain a child centred focus without this(staff monitoring), given that most staff have no childcare- or youth work-related qualifications."
