I saw an interview with a man who came here illegally and he said he supports Trump because he thinks he will improve the economy for his children. He also didn't think he'd be deported.
Sometimes it really is just the economy, stupid. American voters often vote retrospectively as a referendum on the incumbent or the incumbent's party if the candidate is not the incumbent.
The good news is they often can shift just as easily against the new incumbent when Trump ruins the economy.
