Okay, so, I'm having one of those times where I need to step away from the news cycle. The terrible, horrifying news cycle about American imperialism? No, actually - the drama of Steemit.
I try and read up on various points of view, things people think will fix the system, counter arguments, some of them are well put, some are funny, some are ranty, some are hopeful. Some people just absolutely hate each other it seems, some arguments I think must have backstory I'm not privy to. Some people are Steemit cheerleaders, other people are like bible doomsday predictors who have a new apocalypse theory every second Tuesday. I give a shit about this platform, because I think it has a lot of potential, so I want to understand.
But sometimes it seems like people live in a Steemit amplification bubble and get really worked up about ...really, I'm not sure. Like, y'all, I'm a hermity, homebound, depressed, ill person whose only real human interaction is the internet, AND because I'm disabled, even with my earnings being tiny, Steemit has been my biggest source of income for months and is the reason my power is on and my cats are fed and right now I feel like the community needs to take a step back and gain a little perspective. Relax. Deep breaths.
Well anyway, that's what I'm going to do. I'll still be here, blogging about cats and crafts and chalk and cooking and whatever thrill-a-minute shit I get up to, and commenting on people's blogs and tossing my pennies into their vote jar, but I'm done with the drama. I don't have enough spoons to feed myself most days, I can't be spending them on arguments about bidbots and rewards. I apologize for all the times I read one well-worded article and thought "good point!!" without seeing the eight different counterarguments. I am not a developer, I am not a cryptographer, I have one plankton account and no money to buy the dip, I'm just happy when I can eat and buy soap and maybe do a good deed in the world. So, that's what I'm gonna do.
I'm small and insignificant, always have been. The titans can battle over world domination. At this point, not being stepped on is about all I can hope for, and that's not looking like I have great odds. I'm really tired. Even if all the bad actors bugger off, I'll still be a speck. It won't be my fortunes that change. It's like when work gives you a ten cent raise and your rent goes up $200. That's how it works in my experience.
I can sympathise with this. I was feeling a bit tired myself. Your approach is a good one and, thank goodness, it means some interesting, funny or otherwise life-enriching posts will turn up in my feed. Yay! I'll try and do my best to reciprocate 😎

While I'm jumping on the bandwagon (you understand I just need to get this off my chest and then we can all move on) the moralising self-righteousness "there is only one true way" is driving me insane, not to mention the whole navel-gazing #firstruleofsteemit (is to talk about steemit), and everyone rushing in a crowd from one side of the boat to the other. I try not to pick up the bait, and this little thread will help my resolve no end.

That is quite an amazing post. Tbh, you can care but if you dont have a voice backed by a loud enough stake, its best to use steemit to of what you enjoy best. I really liked it. We dont have any other option but to carry on living.

Wow, it seems you were deep into it. I even didn't know there were drama's, fights, hates. Okay, you are 4x times more active than me.
The thing what annoys me the most is that Steemit isn't something I would invite my friends to. I can't promise them to get money for writing, because that will be too disappointing afterwards. And then still ... the (almost unpaid) posts needs to have quality too.
So, it stays a bit lonely here. Even with 400 followers it's like talking to a wall.

LOL. I think it's because we're such a small platform, it's more like a small town where certain characters are feuding and others get hurt in the crossfire. That's what really bothers me, when essentially bystanders get hurt by it.
I figure if people are expecting this to be a profitable side hustle right away, they'll be disappointed. But if they're willing to stick around long term and they spent a lot of time online anyway, then they'll earn some and it'll be cool. And then if crypto moons, super mega bonus!
