Getting a man

The African tradition forbids a woman to go after a man. It is considered as an improper move executed by the insatiate and doting women, who are often treated with contempt. But Nkem would not allow her heart to be tamed by a culture she saw to be archaic and unconscionably primitive. Since no man had come, she was determined to go to one. Against the gods and every wretch who'd consider her act unwomanly.
Will this man value her after this defiance? Will he hold her in absolute respect. These questions and many more ran through her mind as she walked the narrow and thorny paths to her lover.
