While touring Sudan in March of 1993, photojournalist Kevin Carter captured this image of a starving toddler trying to reach a feeding center with a hooded vulture waiting in the shadows. Kevin was instructed by his employer not to touch the children for fear of transmitting disease.
Kevin took his own life only two months after winning the Pulitzer Prize for this photograph.
